Rate and Compensation
The successful candidate may be offered a position in either the Backflow Prevention Apprentice or the Backflow Prevention Inspector classification, depending on qualifications.
The hourly range for the Backflow Prevention Apprentice is $25.21 - $31.51 per hour
The hourly range for the Backflow Prevention Inspector is $27.79 - $34.74 per hour.

In this important role, you'll help protect the City's public water supply by ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local backflow prevention and cross-connection regulations. Whether you're beginning your career and eager to learn the trade under experienced professionals or you're already a certified inspector ready to apply your expertise, you'll perform field inspections, work directly with customers and contractors, maintain accurate records, and contribute to safeguarding the community's drinking water. Additional Information
The ideal candidate will be required to attend training classes and pass the states test in order to obtain the associated licenses, which will be paid by the City of Plano. Continuing Education classes, necessary for maintaining the required licenses, will also be provided at the City's expense.
Hours for this position are Monday - Friday from 7:00am - 3:30pm with on-call requirements once promoted to Inspector through the job family progression.
