Role: SAP FICO Architect
Location: Alpharetta, GA / Plano, TX / Berkely Heights, NJ / Omaha, NE (Hybrid)
6 Months Contract to Hire (C2H)
 
Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced SAP S/4HANA FICO Architect with deep expertise across Financial Accounting (FI), Controlling (CO), Asset Accounting, Currency Management, Taxation, and Global Localization. The ideal candidate will combine solution architecture leadership with hands-on configuration capability, ensuring SAP best practices, compliance, and scalable financial solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Architecture & Leadership

  • Lead the design and architecture of SAP S/4HANA FICO solutions aligned with SAP standard practices.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for FI–CO integration, providing guidance to functional teams.
  • Support business stakeholders with solution design, impact analysis, and governance.
  • Perform hands-on configuration, testing, and troubleshooting when required.

General Ledger & Parallel Accounting

  • Design and manage leading and non-leading ledgers in S/4HANA.
  • Implement parallel accounting using the ledger and G/L account approach.
  • Configure and manage country chart of accounts and its integration with the operational chart of accounts.
  • Analyze and manage changes to alternative G/L accounts, including impact on historical postings.

Currency Management & Foreign Currency Valuation

  • Configure company code and controlling area currencies, including decimal precision handling.
  • Manage multiple currency types (local, group, parallel currencies) and exchange rate determination.
  • Implement and support foreign currency valuation and revaluation processes.
  • Ensure accurate handling of realized and unrealized exchange rate differences during period-end close.

Controlling (CO) & Integration

  • Configure Controlling Area settings and ensure seamless FI–CO integration.
  • Support CO-related postings and currency settings.
  • Design and execute AUC settlement processes from Internal Orders or WBS elements.
  • Configure and manage Source Structures and settlement rules.

Asset Accounting (S/4HANA New Asset Accounting)

  • Implement and support New Asset Accounting in S/4HANA.
  • Configure Entity Ledger, depreciation areas, and depreciation keys.
  • Design depreciation logic using multi-level methods and periodical control methods.
  • Manage asset lifecycle processes including capitalization, transfers, and retirements.
  • Lead asset data migration, ensuring all prerequisites and validations are met.

Taxation & Localization

  • Configure and support Direct Tax and Indirect Tax processes.
  • Implement Withholding Tax, including threshold-based triggering logic.
  • Configure and manage Reverse Charge Mechanism (RCM) scenarios.
  • Support country-specific localizations, ensuring regulatory compliance across regions.

Data Migration & Error Handling

  • Support data migration activities using LSMW and LTMC.
  • Manage and resolve issues using SAP Error Correction System (ECS).
  • Ensure data reconciliation and financial accuracy during cutover and post-go-live support.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years of SAP experience with strong focus on SAP FICO
  • Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA Finance
  • Strong expertise in:
    • FI, CO, GL, Asset Accounting
    • Currency configuration and valuation
    • Taxation and localization
    • FI–CO integration
  • Experience leading or supporting SAP implementations, rollouts, or migrations
  • Ability to perform impact analysis and guide business decisions
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with global SAP implementations
  • Exposure to SAP Activate methodology
  • Prior experience in ECC to S/4HANA migrations
  • Knowledge of SAP best practices and compliance frameworks
