What You’ll Do
  • Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans meeting curriculum standards and diverse learning styles.
  • Organize and conduct hands-on learning that aligns with the curriculum and safety protocols.
  • Ensure that all materials and equipment are maintained and properly handled.
  • Develop assessments and monitor student performance through various methods, including tests, quizzes, projects, labs, and presentations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to align curricula and participate in ongoing professional development initiatives.
  • Participate in school activities, meetings, and events to contribute to the overall mission of the institution.
  • Maintain a safe and positive environment for all students.
  • Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and school staff.
  • Participate in continuous professional development.
What We’re Looking For
  • B.A. in Theology required. M.A. or equivalent preferred.
  • Certified catechist experience required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in planning and assessing educational activities.
  • Strong understanding of subject concepts and ability to convey complex information in an accessible manner.
  • Strong instructional skills and the ability to engage and motivate high school students.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • An understanding of the role that a Catholic education plays in carrying forth the mission of the Catholic Church and an acceptance without reservation that a Detroit Catholic Central High School Teacher performs a ministerial function.
  • Willing to complete required Archdiocese of Detroit training.
  • Willing to submit to drug testing, fingerprinting, and a criminal background check.
