Job description

Job Title: AFSIM Framework Developer | The Trailblazer
Location: Dayton, Ohio
Who You Are:
Like Lewis and Clark, this role requires you to navigate situations and blaze a new trail. You will forge new framework capabilities to move the mission forward. The maps you create will help future developers and modelers navigate rough terrain and even the occasional black hole. You understand that charting a course is more than following a compass. Similarly, you understand that the software you develop must be more than a nice-looking UI; you develop efficient code, documented APIs, and follow established architectural patterns. When forging your trial, you must balance providing capabilities at the speed of relevance with the pursuit of perfection. Much like GPS has changed the way we navigate today, you will change how users interact with AFSIM using the latest architectural approaches, open-source tools, and custom developed code to deliver complete solutions to address user needs. Just like the intrepid explorers of the early American West, you will need to manage your time, resources, and relationships to reach your destination. Along the way you will build relationships, representing AFSIM to that user community much like Lewis and Clark represented the U.S. on their trek. Your mission, if you choose to accept it, will provide you with the opportunity to embark on a journey developing AFSIM ensuring our continued national security.
Who We Are:
Infinity Labs is an innovation-driven company with world-class expertise in the defense and national security sectors. Infinity provides cutting-edge engineering technologies and solutions, including modeling, simulation, and analysis (MS amp;A), research and development (R amp;D), cyber operational technology, and training. We integrate science and systems as part of our overall solutioning approach, and we investigate advanced concepts and technologies with disruptive application potential. The sophistication of our work directly reflects the ingenuity and proficiency of our team. Our workforce shapes the future, and our employees are our greatest asset.
What You’ll Do:
  • Develop and mature AFSIM framework capabilities with an enterprise mindset
  • Design and implement new framework functionality, including plugin development
  • Collaborate closely with government partners, contractors, and the user community, both on-site and virtually
  • Represent AFSIM to the user community by listening, learning, and translating validated needs into engineered solutions
  • Apply structured engineering processes to analyze requirements and deliver sustainable capabilities
  • Develop clear documentation for both framework developers and end users
Minimum Qualifications/What You’ll Bring:
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience developing and modifying the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM)
  • Demonstrated experience supporting U.S. government or military programs
  • 3+ years working in agile software development environments
  • Strong proficiency in C++ and Python
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), cloud environments (AWS and/or Azure), and issue-tracking tools (e.g., Jira)
  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance
Education/Credentials:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM or related discipline
  • U.S. citizenship is required for consideration, as this job requires U.S. government security clearance
    • Highly Desired/Preferred – Active Secret or TS/SCI clearance
    • Acceptable – No current clearance but eligibility to obtain
Nice to Haves:
  • Advanced degree in mathematics, physics, or engineering
  • Familiarity with MATLAB / Simulink
  • Proficiency in applying modeling amp; simulation techniques to support the decision-making process, to include the modeling of aircraft, missiles, satellites, and other military systems
  • Experience interacting with users and other developers to identify, troubleshoot and resolve code issues
  • Familiarity with the AFSIM community and data sources
  • Deep understanding of the World Simulation Framework
  • Experience managing agile backlogs and automated testing suites
  • Ability to clearly explain AFSIM concepts such as Applications, Scenarios, and Simulations, and why they matter
  • Exposure to other mission-level simulation frameworks
Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position and work on a computer for prolonged periods
