Job description

Job Title: Service Technician โ€“ Water, Fire, Mold, and Sewer Backup Restoration
Position Overview

As a Restoration Service Technician with 911 Restoration of Appleton - Oshkosh, you play a vital role in helping customers recover from disasters such as water, fire, mold, or sewage damage. Youโ€™ll perform hands-on restoration work including demolition, drying, cleaning, and sanitizing affected structures and contents. Youโ€™ll document all work performed and communicate clearly with customers, supervisors, and insurance representatives to ensure a โ€œFresh Startโ€ experience for every client.
Key Responsibilities

Job Setup & Execution

  • Retrieve work orders and review scope of work prior to leaving the shop.
  • Load appropriate tools, materials, and equipment for each job.
  • Perform water extraction, demolition, debris removal, and structural drying as directed.
  • Execute fire, smoke, and soot cleanup; odor removal; and contents cleaning/pack-out.
  • Safely perform mold remediation following industry standards and company protocols.
  • Handle sewage and biohazard cleanup with care and proper protective measures.
Monitoring & Documentation

  • Conduct daily moisture readings and make adjustments to drying plans as necessary.
  • Capture detailed job documentation including photos, notes, and readings in smart phone apps.
  • Prepare clear documentation for insurance billing and project files.
  • Ensure all work meets company quality standards and complies with IICRC guidelines.
Customer Service

  • Communicate job progress, next steps, and timelines with customers in person and by phone and text.
  • Obtain customer signatures for work authorization and job completion.
  • Represent the company professionally with empathy and respect at all times.
Equipment & Safety

  • Maintain, clean, and organize company vehicles, tools, and restoration equipment.
  • Report equipment malfunctions or safety hazards promptly to your supervisor.
  • Use PPE and follow OSHA, EPA, and company safety protocols at all times.
Teamwork & Availability

  • Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to complete projects efficiently.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours and weekend emergency response.
Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior experience in restoration, construction, or related field preferred but not required.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written/verbal instructions.
  • Customer service focused with professional communication skills.
  • Comfortable using mobile apps for job documentation (Encircle, JobSight, etc.).
  • IICRC certifications preferred but not required:
    • WTR โ€“ Water Damage Restoration Technician
    • ASD โ€“ Applied Structural Drying
    • FSRT โ€“ Fire & Smoke Restoration
    • OCT โ€“ Odor Control Technician
Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs frequently.
  • Stand, walk, crawl, kneel, and climb for extended periods.
  • Work in hot, cold, damp, or confined environments.
  • Wear a properly fitting respirator when required.
