Job description

Position Overview
  • Department: Behavioral Health - Electroconvulsive Therapy - ECT
  • Schedule: PRN Days, 8-Hour Shifts, 7:00 am - 3:00 pm, as needed
  • Work Location: UAB St. Vincent's East
What You Will Do
Provide direct patient care to behavioral health patients in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the facility.
  • Perform initial and on-going bio-psychosocial assessments according to accepted standards of nursing practice. Develop a nursing plan of care consistent with the master treatment plan.
  • Participate in treatment team conferences to assist in planning and revising goals, objectives and interventions appropriate to the age-related and problem-specific needs of each patient.
  • Implement nursing plan of care for assigned patients and conducts and/or co-leads group therapy sessions for patients.
  • Evaluate patient's response to interventions and revise nursing plan of care as needed. Collaborate with the treatment team to revise goals, objectives and interventions appropriate to the changes in patient status.
What You Will Need
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
Education:
  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND Required professional licensure at time of hire. Must have one year of RN experience.

Additional Preferences
One Year of Nursing Experience Required. The PRN position would be dayshift; 0700-1500 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The shift could be less than 8 hours if needed. You will fill in as a recovery nurse when the current recovery nurse is off, or last minute call in. You will monitor patients as they are waking up after ECT. This would include obtaining Vital signs x3 for each pt and printing a cardiac monitor strip. You will need to be able to start IVs, draw blood, swab for COVID, etc
