Job description

Title: Vice President of Partnerships and Development
Department: Chief of Staff
Salary Grade: S
Target Salary Range: $133,100 to $169,100
POSITION SUMMARY
The Vice President of Partnerships and Development is responsible for driving Atlanta Housingโ€™s public-private engagement strategy and building a dynamic, sustainable fundraising and partnership infrastructure. This role will lead cross-sector relationship development, secure transformational investments, and build strategic alliances that support AHโ€™s long-term affordable housing goals and community-based initiatives.
Working closely with the senior leadership team, the VP of Partnerships and Development will design, implement, and manage development campaigns that attract major philanthropic gifts, corporate contributions, government grants, institutional and individual funding. The ideal candidate is a seasoned fundraiser, strategic thinker, and mission-driven leader with a proven track record of securing seven- and eight-figure investments to fuel complex, high-impact initiatives.
This role requires a leader with deep local relationships in Atlantaโ€™s philanthropic, corporate, and civic communities while also possessing regional and national reach to leverage broader funding and partnership opportunities. Candidates with experience leading development and partnership efforts for nonprofits, housing authorities, neighborhood transformation-related initiatives or mission-aligned organizations will be particularly well-suited for this role.
In addition to fundraising and external engagement, this role will partner closely with Atlanta Housingโ€™s Resident Services team to attract, implement, and measure high-impact programs. The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of program design and reporting and will help establish key performance indicators (KPIs) that enable AH and its partners to evaluate outcomes and measure return on civic investment.
The Vice President of Partnerships and Development will also serve as a visible ambassador for Atlanta Housing, cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with civic leaders, philanthropic institutions, nonprofit organizations, and corporate partners. This individual will act as a strategic bridge between Atlanta Housing and the broader community, aligning partnership strategies with the organizationโ€™s mission and resident-centered approach.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Development Strategy and Fundraising Leadership
  • Design and implement a multi-year fundraising strategy to support Atlanta Housingโ€™s capital, programmatic, community, and resident services initiatives.
  • Lead cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations, government, religious, educational, and other institutions.
  • Develop customized donor engagement plans to support seven- and eight-figure asks and long-term partnerships.
  • Direct the development of a donor and partner pipeline, tracking systems, and recognition efforts.
  • Oversee grant writing, grant compliance, and reporting to ensure alignment with funding requirements and strategic goals.
  • Strategic Partnerships and External Engagement
  • Cultivate and manage high-level strategic partnerships across sectors, including corporate, philanthropic, nonprofit, religious, and academic stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to co-invest in AHโ€™s initiatives, including affordable housing development, resident services, workforce development, and place-based innovation.
  • Develop and oversee the execution of formal partnership agreements, scopes of work, and performance tracking tools.
  • Establish and maintain internal systems for donor tracking, partner engagement, and revenue forecasting.
  • Advise AHโ€™s executive leadership on partnership opportunities, funding trends, and relationship strategy.
  • Represent AH at key external events, forums, and meetings to elevate the organizationโ€™s profile and build alliances.
  • Serve as a visible leader and ambassador in the community, consistently developing and nurturing both new and established relationships.
  • Act as a strategic bridge between Atlanta Housing and the broader civic, nonprofit, and philanthropic community.
  • Program Development, Implementation, and Management
  • Collaborate closely with the Resident Services team to attract, design, implement, and evaluate partnership-driven programs that directly benefit residents.
  • Lead the design, launch, and scaling of initiatives that support resident services, workforce development, and community revitalization efforts.
  • Develop and implement performance metrics and reporting frameworks to measure the impact of civic investments and program outcomes.
  • Identify and apply best practices in housing and community development to inform AHโ€™s strategic direction.
  • Ensure effective cross-departmental coordination and collaboration in the execution and measurement of partnership initiatives.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising, development, or corporate partnerships.
  • Proven track record of designing and leading fundraising campaigns or partnerships with a minimum annual goal of $5 million.
  • Demonstrated success in securing individual gifts, institutional support, government grants, and/or corporate sponsorships of $500,000+.
  • Strong familiarity with Atlantaโ€™s philanthropic, civic, and corporate communities strongly preferred.
  • Regional and national networks in the philanthropic, corporate, and nonprofit sectors to expand AHโ€™s funding and partnership reach.
  • Experience working in or alongside public agencies, housing authorities, neighborhood transformational entities, or mission-aligned institutions is a plus.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with program design, performance measurement, and impact reporting.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Exceptional writing and presentation abilities, with experience developing donor-facing materials.
  • Strategic, entrepreneurial mindset with ability to lead from vision to execution.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and skilled at managing multiple complex projects simultaneously.
