ABO Certified Optician / Lab Technician (Fashion-Forward & Technical)

Texas State Optical Briargrove
6100 Westheimer Rd, Suite 136A, Houston, TX 77057
About Us:
Texas State Optical Briargrove is a well-established private optometric practice located in the Galleria area. We pride ourselves on providing exceptional patient care, cutting-edge lens technology, and a fashion-forward eyewear experience. Our mission is simple — help patients see, look, and feel their best.

Position Overview:
We are seeking an ABO Certified Optician / Lab Technician who blends technical precision with fashion-forward styling and sales expertise. This dual-role position combines craftsmanship and creativity — from edging lenses in the lab to styling patients in frames that complement their face, lifestyle, and personality.
Responsibilities:

  • Fit, adjust, and dispense eyewear with expert precision and care.
  • Provide personalized frame styling for each patient, helping them choose eyewear that enhances both vision and confidence.
  • Present and educate patients on premium lens designs, coatings, and materials to maximize comfort and sales.
  • Perform in-office finishing and edging using lab equipment.
  • Verify lens accuracy and ensure compliance with prescription specifications.
  • Maintain optical displays, manage frame inventory, and assist with frame board management.
  • Collaborate with the optical team to meet and exceed individual and office sales goals.
  • Support insurance verification, billing, and patient communication as needed.
Qualifications:

  • Current ABO Certification required.
  • Minimum 3 years of optical experience in retail or private practice.
  • Strong sense of style, fashion trends, and patient engagement.
  • Skilled in sales, lens education, and technical lab work (edging, surfacing, finishing).
  • Excellent communication and customer-service skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
Schedule & Benefits:

  • Full-time, Monday (9-6) – Saturday (9-1).
  • Competitive hourly rate + commission and performance bonus.
  • Paid time off, staff discounts, and opportunities for career advancement.
  • Medical and dental insurance.
  • Vacation and Sick time.
  • Paid Holidays.
  • Matching 401k upto 4%
