To thrive as a 64-hour certified nursing assistant (CNA), you need basic healthcare knowledge, strong observational skills, and completion of a state-approved 64-hour CNA training program with certification. What does a typical work schedule look like for a 64 Hour position, and how does it impact work-life balance?

A 64 Hour role typically involves working a set number of hours per two-week pay period, often spread across longer shifts or fewer days each week. This structure is common in healthcare, public safety, or technical fields and can offer extended periods off, allowing for better work-life balance or additional part-time work. However, the longer shifts can be demanding, requiring stamina and strong time management. Team collaboration is essential, as coverage and shift handovers must be seamless to maintain quality and safety standards.

Employees in 64-hour positions usually receive pro-rated benefits and may work longer shifts but fewer days per pay period compared to full-time staff. This schedule offers greater flexibility for both employers and employees.
