  • The department performs its own immunohistochemical (IHC) and in situ hybridization (ISH) staining in-house using the Leica BOND-MAX III automated stainer, enabling high-throughput, reproducible results and rapid diagnostic turnaround.
  • Digitally printed blocks and slides minimize labeling errors and ensure full traceability throughout the specimen workflow.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret surgical pathology, cytology (gynecologic and non-gynecologic), and hematopathology cases. Perform grossing of routine specimens, occasional frozen sections, and IHC/ISH-based diagnostic workups.
  • Provide clinical consultation in clinical pathology, including blood bank/transfusion medicine, microbiology, hematology, and chemistry.
  • Provide medical direction for clinical laboratory services, maintaining compliance with NYSDOH, CLIA, and Joint Commission standards.
  • Participate in tumor boards, multidisciplinary conferences, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Effectively communicate with technical staff and provide expertise as appropriate.
  • Participate in equitable call coverage (light, one in three weeks) and provide timely, consultative support to clinicians.

Qualifications/Requirements
  • Board Certified/Eligible AP/CP Pathologist • Eligible for NY medical licensure and CLEP Certificate of Qualification • Fellowship or recent surgical pathology experience welcomed • Strong diagnostic and communication skills
