What is the difference between 5G Network Optimization Engineer vs Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer?

Aspect5G Network Optimization EngineerRadio Frequency (RF) Engineer
Primary FocusOptimizing 5G network performance, coverage, and capacityDesigning, testing, and analyzing RF systems and components
Required SkillsNetwork protocols, optimization tools, wireless standardsRF design, testing, signal analysis, spectrum management
Work EnvironmentTelecom companies, network providers, field testingR&D labs, field testing, equipment manufacturing
CertificationsWireless certifications, Cisco, Nokia, Ericsson trainingRF engineering certifications, FCC licenses

While both roles involve wireless technology, the 5G Network Optimization Engineer focuses on enhancing 5G network performance and coverage, whereas the RF Engineer specializes in RF system design and testing. The optimization engineer works more with network performance metrics, while the RF engineer concentrates on RF hardware and signal integrity.

Job description

TeleWorld Solutions is seeking a highly skilled RF Engineer III to lead advanced RF design and optimization initiatives across complex wireless network deployments. In this role, you will serve as a technical leader responsible for ensuring optimal network performance, capacity planning, and spectrum utilization.

You will work on high-impact projects supporting nationwide LTE and 5G network expansion, while providing technical guidance to junior engineers.

Who We Are: The Architects of What Connects Us

You find the signal in the noise of data. We build the signal itself.

We are TeleWorld Solutions, and we are the strategic backbone for the world's most ambitious wireless networks. We're not just consultants; we're the engineers, designers, and problem-solvers that operators, OEMs, and tower giants trust to bring their boldest visions to life.

Our playground is the invisible architecture of connectionโ€”from vast macro networks to the hyper-precise world of DAS, Small Cells, and Wi-Fi. With a legacy of hundreds of thousands of successful implementations, we help our clients navigate the entire lifecycle of their network: from the first line of a design to the final optimization, and every critical decision about performance and value in between.

Why does this matter to you?

The complex data you will masterโ€”the CDRs, network KPIs, and customer signalsโ€”flows from the very infrastructure we design and optimize. You won't just be analyzing abstract numbers; you'll be interpreting the digital heartbeat of networks that we helped bring to life. Your insights will directly influence the next generation of those networks.

Here, your work as a data storyteller is powered by deep, tangible engineering excellence. You provide the "what" and "why." We provide the "how" on a global scale.

Welcome to the engine room of connection. Let's build what's next

  • Lead RF design, capacity planning, and performance optimization for wireless networks.
  • Conduct advanced propagation modeling and interference analysis.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve coverage, throughput, and network reliability.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis of network performance issues.
  • Evaluate new technologies such as Massive MIMO, beamforming, and advanced antenna systems.
  • Collaborate with RAN engineering, transport, and field deployment teams.
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior RF engineers.
  • Support spectrum planning and advanced network performance analysis.

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field
  • 5โ€“8 years of RF engineering experience
  • Strong experience with RF design, propagation modeling, and network optimization
  • Experience with LTE and 5G NR performance engineering
  • Advanced proficiency with RF planning tools and drive test analysis tools
