POSITION SUMMARY
Zachry is seeking experienced SR Work Face Planners to play a critical role in the successful execution of construction projects by facilitating the development and management of Installation Work Packages (IWPs). This on-site position ensures that construction activities are planned and executed safely, efficiently, and productively. The planner works closely with Superintendents and cross-functional teams to integrate engineering, procurement, safety, quality, and commissioning requirements into field-ready work packages.
PRIMARY POSITION OBJECTIVE
To lead the planning and coordination of Installation Work Packages (IWPs) that support safe, efficient, and constraint-free field execution. This includes:
  • Breaking down Construction Work Packages (CWPs) into IWPs aligned with the Path of Construction.
  • Collaborating with Superintendents and other stakeholders to ensure IWPs reflect field conditions and discipline standards.
  • Supporting schedule updates, material tracking, and reporting.
  • Driving continuous improvement through feedback loops and close-out reviews.

Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and implement Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) processes and procedures.
  • Perform material takeoffs and initiate requisitions.
  • Coordinate with design engineers and ensure accurate drawing distribution.
  • Support cost reviews and change management processes.
  • Assist in 4D modeling setup and maintenance.
  • Validate project reports (daily, weekly, monthly).
  • Use internal systems (e.g., Qtrax, constraint management software, model software) for planning and tracking.
  • Attend War Room meetings and support schedule updates.
  • Conduct weekly field walks and validate progress against IWPs.
  • Coordinate 90-day look-ahead plans and resolve constraints.
  • Collaborate with other discipline planners to ensure logical execution sequencing.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field (or 8 years of relevant industry experience in lieu of degree)

Experience:
  • Minimum of 6 years in construction or project controls, with experience in work packaging and field planning.

Knowledge & Technical Expertise
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, industry best practices, and discipline-specific execution (civil, structural, electrical, etc.).
  • Proficient in interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and resource planning.
  • Familiarity with project controls, safety regulations, and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Skilled in identifying and resolving execution risks and constraints.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and construction planning tools, including scheduling, modeling, and work packaging software.
  • Effective communicator with strong problem-solving and organizational abilities.
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively in fast-paced environments.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role requires regular communication via phone, email, video conferencing, and software systems, along with site visits to industrial and maintenance locations. Mobility across varied terrain and elevated areas is necessary, along with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, respirators, gloves, and steel-toe boots.
Work occurs in diverse environments including offices, trailers, warehouses, and active job sites. Exposure to moderate to high noise levels, heavy equipment, and dynamic field conditions is expected. The role involves interaction with personnel, tools, and machinery in both indoor and outdoor settings.
