Production Supervisor - 2nd Shift

Summary:
The Production Supervisor will oversee employees and operations, scheduling, and coordinating production. The Production Supervisor manages raw material stock levels based on production history and sales projections. The Production Supervisor ensures that production of products meets or exceeds efficiency and company quality standards. In addition, the Production Supervisor ensures that facilities and processes comply with GMP standards by managing Quality Systems and documentation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:
  • Supervises temporary and full-time employees in the production department to ensure safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Monitor area for a safe environment.
  • Ensures products are produced to schedule and specification on manufacturing records/work orders, and all QC and lot control processes are fulfilled.
  • Schedules the production of manufacturing records/work orders for the manufacturer within standard lead times.
  • Sets up and performs light maintenance on all production machinery.
  • Oversees and confirms that work orders and quality procedures are followed
  • Determines that all raw materials are on hand for production and that minimum stock levels of raw materials are maintained. Works with the Quality department to manage and determine the status of aged on-hand raw materials.
  • Establishes and maintains raw material inventory programs based on usage history and sales projections.
  • Works with Operations Manager to establish written standard operating procedures for production processes.
  • Oversees and or conducts training of new or existing employees to include machinery, paperwork, GMP's, production, safety, and quality systems.
  • Understands HACCP and maintains procedures and documentation for all Quality Systems
  • Communicates with Supply Chain to maintain raw material inventory with stock requirements.
  • Oversees the sanitation of production rooms and the surrounding warehouse pertaining to production.
  • Adheres to frequency and methods of cleaning, maintains proper documentation, and uses all chemicals used in production, and trains employees on their use.
  • Assist and be aware of AIB/BRC audit requirements, if required.
  • Back up to Operations Manager as needed.
  • Assist in acquiring new manufacturing processes, including researching, determining specifications, and soliciting and evaluating bidding processes.
  • Future responsibility of supervising production for the spray drying operation.
  • Other duties as deemed necessary by the Operations Manager.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the daily workflow of Production employees OR (the Production Department).
  • Interviews, hires, and trains new staff.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Approves employee/temp cards and PTO Requests.

Required Education and/or Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates or Bachelor's degree in (specific degree) preferred
  • Five + years of manufacturing experience required
  • Previous supervisor experience required

Work Conditions & Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Work environment is split between an office setting and a production environment.
  • Ability to view a computer screen and type for extended hours
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
  • Other physical requirements include moderate standing and occasional squatting, bending, and twisting
  • Ability to stand for an extended periods of time
  • Must be able to wear any required PPE such as scrubs, hair net, lab coat, and facemask
  • Ability to work in a packaging area with a moderate powder substance in the air with or without a respirator
  • Ability to work above shoulders
  • Other physical requirements include frequent squatting, bending, twisting, and bi-lateral wrist movement
  • Ability to work around a variety of different smells and aromas
  • Ability to adjust work schedule as business needs require.
