RBTs assist in implementing behavior intervention plans designed by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), primarily to help individuals with autism or other developmental disorders. Working the 3rd shift may involve providing care and support during nighttime routines, managing behaviors that occur during the evening, and ensuring client safety overnight. This schedule is often required in residential facilities, hospitals, or other settings where clients need round-the-clock support.

Strong observation skills, patience, and effective communication are crucial soft skills, especially when working with clients during evening hours. These skills ensure consistent, high-quality support for clients with behavioral needs, particularly during less traditional hours when supervision may be limited.
