What is a 3rd shift evening RBT?

A 3rd Shift Evening RBT is a Registered Behavior Technician who works during the late evening or overnight hours, typically as part of the third shift in a 24-hour work environment. RBTs assist in implementing behavior intervention plans designed by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), primarily to help individuals with autism or other developmental disorders. Working the 3rd shift may involve providing care and support during nighttime routines, managing behaviors that occur during the evening, and ensuring client safety overnight. This schedule is often required in residential facilities, hospitals, or other settings where clients need round-the-clock support.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a 3rd shift evening RBT?

To thrive as a 3rd Shift Evening RBT, you need a solid understanding of applied behavior analysis (ABA), a high school diploma or equivalent, and a valid RBT certification. Familiarity with data collection software, behavioral intervention tools, and electronic health records is typically required. Strong observation skills, patience, and effective communication are crucial soft skills, especially when working with clients during evening hours. These skills ensure consistent, high-quality support for clients with behavioral needs, particularly during less traditional hours when supervision may be limited.

What are some unique challenges of working as a 3rd shift evening RBT, and how can I prepare for them?

Working as a 3rd Shift Evening Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) often involves supporting clients during late hours, which can come with challenges such as maintaining alertness and managing sleep schedules. You may also encounter fewer colleagues on-site, making independent problem-solving and clear communication skills especially important. To prepare, focus on developing effective self-care routines, staying organized, and building strong lines of communication with supervisors for support and feedback. Embracing these aspects can help you thrive in an evening RBT role and deliver consistent, high-quality care.

Job description

DESCRIPTION
Keep It Running. Solve Problems. Protect the Experience.
Some people fix what's broken.
You notice what could break and prevent it from ever becoming a problem.
You see the game that's acting differently, the equipment that needs attention, and the small issue that could become a guest disruption if left unchecked. You're naturally curious, mechanically minded, and take pride in solving problems the right way the first time.
As a Technician, you're one of the people who keeps Your 3rd Spot running. While much of your work happens behind the scenes, every repair, inspection, and preventative check helps create a seamless experience for our guests.
If you enjoy troubleshooting, working with your hands, and taking ownership of complex problems, you'll feel right at home here.
What You'll Do
As a Technician, you'll help create exceptional experiences by:
  • Inspecting gaming equipment and facility systems to ensure they're safe, clean, and guest ready
  • Performing preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life
  • Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing arcade games, attractions, facility equipment, and building systems
  • Responding quickly to operational issues while minimizing guest disruption
  • Communicating equipment status and repair progress clearly with the leadership team
  • Supporting guests with friendly, professional communication when technical issues affect their experience
  • Maintaining organized workspaces, tools, inventory, and maintenance records
  • Taking ownership of projects from identification through resolution

You'll Thrive Here If You
  • Naturally enjoy solving mechanical and technical problems
  • Believe preventative maintenance is better than emergency repairs
  • Stay calm, methodical, and focused under pressure
  • Take pride in quality workmanship and attention to detail
  • Enjoy working independently while supporting a larger team
  • Communicate proactively and follow through on commitments
  • Continuously look for ways to improve systems and prevent future issues
  • Value safety, accountability, and doing things the right way

Why Join Our Team?
We believe great guest experiences depend on people who care about what happens behind the scenes.
Here you'll find:
  • Competitive pay
  • Hands on training and opportunities to expand your technical skills
  • Opportunities to advance into leadership and specialized technical roles
  • A culture built on trust, ownership, and continuous improvement
  • Leadership that values initiative and problem solving
  • A fast paced environment where every day brings something different
  • The opportunity to make a direct impact on the guest experience

Your work may not always be seen by guests, but it is felt every time they enjoy a flawless experience.
What We're Looking For
We hire people with curiosity, ownership, and a desire to learn.
Preferred qualifications include:
  • Mechanical, electrical, maintenance, or technical experience is preferred but not required
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Ability to use hand tools and basic diagnostic equipment safely
  • Ability to work at least 30 hours each week
  • Day, evening, weekend, and holiday availability based on business needs
  • Reliable transportation and consistent attendance
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds throughout the shift
  • Professional appearance that meets company grooming and uniform standards
  • Commitment to workplace safety and operational excellence

Before You Apply
When considering a new opportunity, the most important question isn't "Can I do this?"
It's "Do I want this?"
We'll determine whether you have the skills or can learn them.
Only you can decide if you're excited to solve problems, protect the guest experience, and take ownership of the systems that keep everything running.
If your values align with ours, we'd love to meet you.
Ready to Keep the Experience Running?
Bring your curiosity.
Bring your craftsmanship.
Bring your commitment to excellence.
Apply today and help create the seamless experiences that make Your 3rd Spot unlike anywhere else.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to work a minimum of 30 hours per week.
  • Day, evening, weekend, and holiday availability based on business needs.
  • Availability for special events
  • Reliable transportation and consistent attendance.
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, high energy environment.
  • Ability to multitask, stay organized, and adapt quickly during busy service periods.
  • Team oriented with a positive attitude and a willingness to give and receive coaching.
