The ideal candidate is comfortable working with computers and manufacturing equipment, understands the importance of precise measurements, and takes ownership of both quality and productivity. Previous CNC or waterjet experience is preferred, but candidates with strong mechanical and technical aptitude may also be considered.

- Prepare and program CNC waterjet jobs using the appropriate software.
- Nest parts efficiently to maximize material utilization and minimize scrap.
- Select, identify, load, and position stainless-steel sheets for cutting.
- Set up and operate CNC waterjet equipment safely and correctly.
- Monitor cutting operations and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality.
- Inspect completed parts for dimensions, cut quality, quantity, and material accuracy.
- Use tape measures, calipers, squares, and other measuring tools.
- Label, organize, and route cut parts to the correct production area.
- Track material usage, completed work, scrap, and other required production information.
- Maintain accurate information in the company’s ERP or production systems.
- Identify drawing, programming, material, or equipment issues before they affect downstream production.
- Communicate shortages, discrepancies, delays, and maintenance concerns promptly.
- Perform routine equipment inspections, cleaning, and preventive-maintenance tasks.
- Monitor and replace consumable components as needed.
- Help troubleshoot equipment, software, and cut-quality problems.
- Safely operate material-handling equipment after receiving the required training.
- Maintain an organized work area and properly care for materials, tools, and equipment.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
- Assist with other stainless layout or production responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous CNC waterjet, plasma, laser, router, machining, or similar equipment experience is preferred.
- Experience in sheet-metal fabrication or stainless-steel manufacturing is helpful.
- Ability to read shop drawings, cut lists, and production documents.
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately and work with fractions and decimals.
- Comfortable using computers, manufacturing software, and electronic production files.
- CAD, CAM, nesting, or CNC programming experience is helpful.

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to plan work, manage priorities, and keep production moving.
- Dependable attendance and consistent punctuality.
- Ability to work independently after training while remaining part of a team.
- Willingness to learn new equipment, software, and fabrication processes.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
The Person We Are Looking For
A successful CNC Waterjet Operator will:
- Take ownership of producing accurate parts on schedule.
- Understand how layout and cutting performance affect every downstream department.
- Check work carefully rather than relying solely on the machine or computer file.
- Use material thoughtfully and actively work to reduce unnecessary scrap.
- Identify problems early and communicate them before additional work is affected.
- Work with an appropriate sense of urgency without sacrificing safety or quality.
- Care for expensive equipment and address maintenance concerns promptly.
- Keep materials, cut parts, electronic files, and production information organized.
- Accept feedback and look for ways to improve quality, setup time, material utilization, and productivity.
- Support coworkers and contribute to a respectful, productive workplace.
Physical and Work Requirements
- Ability to stand and work on a manufacturing floor for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, reach, climb, and move around large sheets of material and production equipment.
- Ability to lift and move materials or components safely, with assistance or material-handling equipment when appropriate.
- Ability to work around machinery, water, noise, metal edges, and normal manufacturing conditions.
- Ability to wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, safety footwear, and other required personal protective equipment.
Training and Future Opportunity
The CNC Waterjet Operator will receive training based on previous experience and assigned responsibilities. Employees who demonstrate reliability, accuracy, productivity, sound judgment, and technical ability may receive opportunities to expand their skills in CNC programming, material planning, equipment troubleshooting, layout, quality control, or other areas of manufacturing.
