If you have a strong Houston freight forwarding book of business and are ready to turn your relationships into a bigger opportunity, this role is built for you.

Location: Houston, Texas
Employment Type: Full-time
Department: Sales / Business Development
Reports To: General Manager in Houston and Sr. VP of Business Development

Position Summary

Company is expanding in Houston, and we are looking for a proven sales leader who can bring energy, relationships, and results to one of the most important logistics markets in the country. This is more than a sales role—it is an opportunity to own a territory, grow revenue, recruit local sales talent, and help shape the next phase of our Houston presence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and grow a high-potential Houston territory by developing new business and expanding existing customer relationships.
  • Sell Tazmanian's full portfolio of freight forwarding and logistics solutions, including air freight, ocean freight, import/export, domestic transportation, customs brokerage coordination, warehousing, and project cargo support.
  • Put an active Houston freight forwarding book of business to work by creating immediate opportunities and building a strong long-term pipeline.
  • Build trusted relationships with importers, exporters, manufacturers, distributors, energy, industrial, and project cargo customers.
  • Develop customer proposals, RFQs, pricing recommendations, and service solutions in partnership with experienced operations and pricing teams.
  • Drive disciplined pipeline management, sales forecasting, CRM updates, account planning, and performance reporting.
  • Work closely with operations and leadership to deliver smooth onboarding and dependable service execution.
  • Represent Tazmanian Freight Systems with professionalism and confidence at customer meetings, industry events, and regional networking opportunities.
  • Recruit, develop, and support sales representatives within the Houston market to strengthen local coverage and accelerate regional growth.
  • Deliver results by meeting or exceeding revenue, gross profit, activity, and customer retention goals.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful B2B sales or business development experience in logistics, freight forwarding, 3PL, or transportation.
  • Current, active Houston-area freight forwarding book of business strongly required.
  • Proven success selling international freight forwarding solutions, including air, ocean, import/export, and related logistics services.
  • Strong understanding of the Houston logistics market, including port, airport, energy, industrial, manufacturing, and distribution customers.
  • Ability to sell consultative logistics solutions and build long-term customer relationships.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and follow-up skills.
  • Strong commercial judgment, pricing awareness, and margin discipline.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CRM tools, and sales reporting systems.
  • Ability to travel locally and regionally for customer visits and business development activities.
Ideal Candidate Profile

The right candidate is a builder—someone who knows the Houston freight market, brings established customer relationships, and is motivated by the opportunity to grow a territory, win business, and help build a stronger local sales presence. We are looking for a confident, accountable sales leader with urgency, follow-through, and a service-first approach to every customer interaction.

What You'll Get
  • Competitive base salary with performance-based commission.
  • Opportunity to earn based on real growth, new business wins, and profitable account expansion.
  • Strong support from experienced operations, pricing, customer service, and leadership teams.
  • Ability to take ownership of a high-potential Houston territory with room to build and scale.
  • Opportunity to recruit and develop local sales representatives as the market grows.
  • Benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, paid time off, holidays, retirement plan participation, and car allowance.
Why Join Us

At This company, you will have the opportunity to make an immediate impact in a market with real momentum. You will be backed by experienced operations, and customer service teams that understand the urgency, complexity, and relationship-driven nature of freight forwarding—giving you the support needed to win, grow, and deliver for customers.
