3D Visualization Manager information

What does a 3D visualization manager do?

A 3D Visualization Manager oversees the creation and management of 3D visual assets for projects such as architectural renderings, product designs, or animations. They lead a team of artists and designers, coordinate workflows, and ensure that visualizations meet client specifications and project deadlines. Additionally, they are responsible for maintaining quality standards, implementing new visualization technologies, and collaborating with other project stakeholders. Their role is essential in transforming concepts into compelling visual representations that aid decision-making and presentations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a 3D visualization manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a 3D Visualization Manager, you need expertise in 3D modeling, rendering, animation, and a solid background in architecture, design, or a related field. Mastery of visualization software such as Autodesk 3ds Max, V-Ray, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite, along with experience in project management tools, is typically required. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills enable effective team management and client collaboration. These skills are crucial for delivering high-quality visual content, meeting project deadlines, and ensuring client satisfaction in a competitive industry.

How does a 3D visualization manager typically collaborate with architects and designers during a project's lifecycle?

A 3D Visualization Manager works closely with architects, designers, and project stakeholders to translate design concepts into detailed visual representations throughout a project's lifecycle. This collaboration often involves interpreting sketches, plans, and feedback to produce accurate renderings and animations that communicate design intent. The manager also leads a team of visualization specialists, facilitating workflow, ensuring quality, and integrating input from multiple departments. Regular coordination meetings and iterative review cycles are standard practices to align visualization outputs with evolving project requirements.

What is the difference between 3D Visualization Manager vs 3D Artist?

Overview

At Danis Building Construction Company, innovation is built into everything we do-and our Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) team is leading that charge. We're looking for a creative, tech-forward problem solver to join us as a VDC Designer, helping bridge the gap between design and construction through cutting-edge technology and collaboration.

In this role, you'll bring ideas to life through visualization, modeling, and digital coordination. From training project teams on new software to managing BIM models, performing drone and laser scans, and experimenting with emerging tools, you'll play a pivotal part in helping our teams deliver smarter, more efficient projects. Together, we'll push the boundaries of what's possible in construction as we continue to grow and take on exciting new challenges.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Contribute to a wide range of design and engineering efforts, from traditional architectural design to self-perform prefabrication and ICT support.
  • Develop 3D and 2D construction and fabrication drawings/models, collaborating with clients and trade partners to support complex project coordination.
  • Create compelling visualizations, graphics, animations, and renderings that enhance project understanding and help win new work.
  • Lead BIM initiatives, uphold Danis' standards, and develop new workflows that strengthen collaboration across teams.
  • Advance our AR, MR, and VR capabilities while supporting our VDC Reality Capture efforts through drone and laser scanning.
  • Mentor and train project teams, sharing VDC strategies that elevate project success and encourage continuous learning.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist with producing and analyzing Reality Capture deliverables.

  • Develop and track VDC metrics across departments and projects to measure the impact and success of various initiatives.
Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Industrial Design, or Interior Design.
  • 3-5 years of experience with BIM/VDC initiatives and projects.
  • Mastery in model creation to support various project phases across multiple software platforms.
  • Knowledge of design phases and the information required to complete each successfully.
  • Strong understanding of construction workflows, production cycles, and priorities.ย
  • High competency in design and construction software, including:
    • Autodesk Revit
    • Adobe Creative Suite
    • Various rendering platforms
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects, prioritize effectively, and maintain accuracy under pressure.
  • Passion for mentoring, training, and supporting project team members to help them reach their full potential.
  • Willingness to travel to regional offices to coordinate and implement corporate VDC initiatives.

Desired Traits

  • Highly collaborative with a customer service mindset.
  • Strong problem-solving and construction risk management skills.
  • Self-starter who is detail-oriented, organized, and adaptable to change.
  • Naturally curious and eager to learn new technologies.
  • Innovative, forward-thinking, and excited by what's next in construction.

Working Conditions

Most of your time will be spent in our newly remodeled open office environment, collaborating with project teams and other departments. Occasionally, you'll be out in the field performing site-specific activities such as drone flights, laser scanning, or model verification-tasks that may include light lifting or climbing ladders and stairs.

Why Danis?
