Job DescriptionOverview

Your role
  • Lead a team of designers and modelers in preparation of overall plant (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and I&C, Process) 3D models and subsequent drawing output.
  • The successful candidate's home office will be based in Mississauga, Ontario, with frequent travel to the India GTC offices, up to 25% of the time, to support effective scope delivery, coordination, and team integration.
  • Ensure Modeling standards and procedures are adhered to across the team.
  • Review and maintain a high level and consistent accuracy and quality of models and drawings with self-check and formal reviews.
  • Define the optimum structure for the project team with established accountability and reporting structure.
  • Plan, schedule and track project activities, commitments, deliverables along with resource and budget.
  • Participate in diverse range of meetings and initiatives to improve workflows, engineering tools and information exchange.
  • Perform project and design file health checks, model management, maintenance, and assessment.
  • Assist in project set-up including creation of execution plans, implement design coordination and issue tracking (clash detection).
  • Ensure all models, outputs and project data is correctly established and maintained in accordance with company standards and project requirements.
  • Foster a learning and continuous improvement environment to ensure the team acquires and maintains the necessary modeling techniques and processes to deliver project deliverables.
  • Communicate and coordinate complicated technical and management issues to wide variety of stakeholders in a multi-partnership environment.
  • Resource forecasting and hiring, develop training and mentorship plan.
  • Set-up performance expectations and provide timely performance feedback for the team.
  • Proposal and estimate development for future projects.

About you
  • University Degree or College Diploma in engineering, architecture, or equivalent technical discipline.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience relevant to the work, including experience leading technical teams.
  • Extensive Smart 3D, AutoCAD, Plant3D. Tekla, Revit and Solid Works experience and knowledge of wide variety of authoring tools e.g., Bentley, Esri and Revit.
  • Detailed knowledge of model-based design (BIM) protocols, standards and software.
  • Strong business acumen - the ability to think, plan, execute and negotiate strategically with strong commercial orientation and understanding of financial measures.
  • Strong leadership, mentorship, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
