Zeeco collaborates with the biggest names in the industry, enabling individuals to broaden their skills alongside teams of subject matter experts.
Job Summary:
Zeeco is seeking a Manufacturing / Automation Designer to support production through the design and development of jigs, fixtures, automation solutions, and 3D-printed components. This role combines hands-on manufacturing engineering with CAD design to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance overall production workflows.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, detail-oriented problem solver with strong mechanical design skills and a passion for continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop jigs, fixtures, tooling, and automation solutions to improve manufacturing efficiency and product quality
  • Design and implement production molds, including metal and 3D-printed mold systems, for fabrication, forming, casting, or composite-related manufacturing needs
  • Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD models and drawings for parts, assemblies, and production equipment
  • Support 3D printing initiatives, including designing, prototyping, and implementing printed components for production use
  • Analyze manufacturing processes and implement improvements to increase throughput and reduce cost and waste
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and shop personnel to ensure designs are practical and optimized for fabrication
  • Perform hands-on technical analysis of equipment and manufacturing processes
  • Assist with capital improvement and automation projects from concept through implementation
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including fabrication, assembly, and test instructions
  • Validate designs through shop support, testing, and iteration
  • Review and revise drawings based on internal and customer feedback
  • Estimate production times, materials, and labor requirements for projects
  • Apply Lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste and improve workflow
  • Support shop floor operations including troubleshooting, training, and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications:
  • Technical School Diploma, Associate's, or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Drafting/Design, or related field
  • 3-5+ years of experience in manufacturing design, drafting, or engineering support
  • Strong proficiency in INVENTOR, VAULT, and AutoCAD (2D & 3D modeling)
  • Experience designing jigs, fixtures, molds, or production tooling
  • Familiarity with 3D printing technologies and applications in manufacturing
  • Understanding of fabrication processes, machining, and assembly methods
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and process improvement methods
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project coordination skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively across engineering and shop teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

What Puts You Ahead:
  • Hands-on mindset with the ability to move between design and shop floor execution
  • Creative thinker who can develop practical automation and tooling solutions
  • Self-driven with the ability to manage projects with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Passion for continuous improvement and innovation
