Job Title: 3D Printer Technician
Job Description

The 3D Printer Technician maintains, calibrates, and troubleshoots FDM and SLA 3D printing equipment to support both prototype development and production activities. This role manages print queues, optimizes print parameters, and ensures consistent, high-quality output for engineering and manufacturing applications.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain FDM and SLA 3D printers to ensure reliable, continuous operation for prototype and production support.
  • Calibrate 3D printing equipment regularly to maintain dimensional accuracy and consistent print quality.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software issues on FDM and SLA printers to minimize downtime.
  • Manage and prioritize print queues to meet engineering and manufacturing schedules and deadlines.
  • Optimize print parameters such as layer height, infill, temperature, and speed to achieve desired performance and quality.
  • Perform functional testing of printed parts to verify that they meet design and performance requirements.
  • Inspect printed components for defects, dimensional accuracy, and surface quality, and make adjustments as needed.
  • Document print settings, issues, and resolutions to support continuous improvement of printing processes.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to understand application requirements and recommend appropriate print strategies.
  • Support prototype builds and production support activities by ensuring timely, consistent, and high-quality printed parts.
Essential Skills
  • Hands-on experience maintaining FDM 3D printers in a prototype or production support environment.
  • Hands-on experience maintaining SLA 3D printers in a prototype or production support environment.
  • Proficiency in calibrating FDM and SLA 3D printing equipment to achieve consistent output quality.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot issues with FDM and SLA 3D printers, including hardware and process-related problems.
  • Experience managing 3D printing queues to support engineering and manufacturing applications.
  • Skill in optimizing print parameters to balance quality, strength, and print time.
  • Ability to perform functional testing and inspection of printed parts to ensure they meet required specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining consistent output quality.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working with both prototype and production support workflows.
  • Familiarity with inspection techniques for evaluating dimensional accuracy and surface finish of printed parts.
  • Ability to document processes, print settings, and troubleshooting steps for future reference.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with engineering and manufacturing teams.
Work Environment

This is an onsite role based in Madison, AL. The 3D Printer Technician works in a production and engineering support environment that focuses on prototype development and manufacturing applications. The position involves regular hands-on work with FDM and SLA 3D printers, including maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting on the shop floor or in a lab setting.

Pay and Benefits
