Associated Housewrights is a premier residential design-build firm specializing in custom homes, additions, and remodeling projects in Madison, Wisconsin and the surrounding counties. Our team is passionate about creating thoughtful, high-performing homes while providing clients with an exceptional design and construction experience from start to finish.
We're seeking an experienced Residential Architectural Designer to lead projects, mentor team members, and help shape the future of our growing design practice. This is an opportunity to work directly with clients, collaborate closely with construction professionals, and see your designs successfully realized through completion.
What You'll Do

  • Lead residential design projects including custom homes, additions, and remodeling projects from concept through construction.
  • Guide clients through the design process, helping them turn ideas into practical, creative and functional solutions.
  • Develop architectural drawings, construction documents, and 3D presentations.
  • Collaborate with in-house construction professionals, consultants, and trade partners to deliver exceptional projects.
  • Balance design goals, budgets, schedules, and construction requirements while maintaining client satisfaction.
  • Share your experience by mentoring and coaching junior designers while serving as a technical resource for the team.
  • Participate in project planning, problem-solving, and quality reviews throughout all phases of design and construction.

What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • 5-10 years of residential architectural design experience.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating custom homes, additions, and remodeling projects.
  • Experience leading projects from initial client meetings through construction completion.
