Job description

About the Position:

Join The Canvas, the libraryโ€™s hands-on makerspace dedicated to fostering creativity, innovation, and learning. We're seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Makerspace Assistant to support our patrons and keep our space running smoothly. In this role, you'll provide expert guidance on our equipment, maintain a well-stocked, clean, and welcoming environment, troubleshoot equipment, and serve as our go-to 3D printing specialist.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Instructing patrons on the use of makerspace equipment through one-on-one instruction and responding to drop-in questions.
  • Maintaining a well-stocked, organized, and clean makerspace by managing inventory, organizing tools and materials, restocking supplies, and ensuring cleanliness and ease of use for patrons and staff.
  • Managing 3D print files and overseeing patron print jobs from submission through completion.
  • Assisting patrons with media lab technology, software, and digital tools related to our equipment.
  • Assisting with maker programs and activities.
  • Staying current on the latest technology trends and equipment in makerspaces, including emerging technologies.
  • Performing repairs and general maintenance of equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma.
  2. Proficiency with makerspace equipment.
  3. Two years of library experience or retail customer service experience.
  4. Available to work evenings and weekends.

Hours: Full-Time: 37.5 hours/week

Schedule: Monday 11-7, Tuesday 9-5, Wednesday 9-5, Friday 11-7 and Three Saturdays a Month 9-5.

Salary: Starting $35,100 - $38,513 DOQ
