How much do 3d imaging lab jobs pay per hour?
What is the difference between 3D Imaging Lab vs 3D Imaging Technician?
| Aspect | 3D Imaging Lab | 3D Imaging Technician |
|---|---|---|
| Credentials | Typically requires a degree in imaging, radiology, or related field | Often requires certification in imaging technology or radiologic procedures |
| Work Environment | Laboratory or clinical setting with specialized imaging equipment | Hospital, clinic, or imaging center environment |
| Industry Usage | Used in medical, research, or industrial imaging projects | Performed in healthcare facilities, assisting with imaging procedures |
The 3D Imaging Lab focuses on research, development, and analysis of 3D imaging data in a lab setting, often involving advanced equipment and software. In contrast, the 3D Imaging Technician primarily operates imaging equipment in clinical environments, assisting with patient scans and ensuring image quality. Both roles require specialized knowledge but differ mainly in setting and scope of responsibilities.

Job description
If you're ready to be part of our legacy of hope and innovation, we encourage you to take the first step and explore our current job openings. Your best is waiting to be discovered.
Rotating - 08 Hour (United States of America)
The Stanford Health Care 3D and Quantitative Imaging Laboratory (3DQ Lab) is a specialized interdisciplinary center within the Stanford Department of Radiology. Its core mission is to develop and apply innovative software and visualization techniques to analyze medical imaging data. These methods directly translate complex 2D data into actionable clinical models.
The lab leverages advanced image-processing platforms to support multiple medical specialties, including cardiothoracic surgery, oncology, neurosurgery, and pediatrics.
3D & 4D Visualization: Converts standard CT and MRI scans into multiplanar reconstructions, volume-rendered graphics, and virtual endoscopies. The lab uses 4D temporal rendering to assess cardiac and anatomical structures actively in motion.
The TRAC Program: The Tumor Response Assessment Criteria (TRAC) team standardizes oncology tracking. They track the precise longitudinal changes of tumor sizes over time across multi-interval follow-ups to map overall treatment effectiveness.
Surgical Navigation Support: Technologists prepare and manipulate digital models that integrate directly into operating room navigation systems, giving neurosurgeons real-time guidance during procedures.
Transcatheter Mitral Valve Replacement (TMVR): Provides comprehensive volumetric measurements and mapping of the venous delivery pathway, helping cardiologists predict post-procedure device performance.
Medical 3D Printing & Modeling: Segments complex anatomies to print physical patient-specific surgical guides, custom orthotics, and full-scale bone structures for custom medical hardware configuration.
A Brief Overview
The RLF 3D Lab Technologist II works under limited supervision to independently perform advanced 3D post-processing and image reconstruction to support clinical imaging workflows. Works closely with radiologists and other clinicians to generate high-quality images using established and advanced protocols. Supports department operations and may assist with training and workflow coordination. Supports research activities and imaging protocols as needed. May provide guidance to junior staff and assist with workflow coordination in the absence of the Lead Technologist or Supervisor.
