Job description

HGA is currently seeking a skilled Mechanical/Piping Designer in our Baton Rouge office. This role involves working on complex and unique engineering design projects, transforming general concepts into detailed and constructible design packages. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities:
  • Interpret and analyze general designs provided by engineers
  • Prepare detailed designs and construction drawing packages for engineering approval
  • Develop piping layouts based on project scope and vendor information
  • Review vendor equipment drawings and coordinate with engineers on pipe stress analysis
  • Ensure technical accuracy and constructability of final designs
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams across the organization

Requirements:
  • Technology training in drafting and design; Associate degree preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in piping design within the Petro-Chemical industry
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD 3D; Cadworx Plant 3D is a plus
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Previous experience in a consulting engineering firm preferred
  • Must be located within commuting distance of Baton Rouge, LA
