LOCUM Nurse Practitioner - Cardiac Surgery ICU - Syracuse, New York
Inpatient ICU & Step-Down | Weekday Schedule | Critical Care Focus
365 Healthcare is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner for a locum opportunity in Syracuse, New York. This assignment offers weekday inpatient coverage within a Cardiac Surgery ICU and step-down service, working alongside surgeons and critical care physicians in a high-acuity hospital setting.
This is an excellent opportunity for providers with ICU experience seeking a non-operative critical care role.
Schedule Model
• Monday - Friday
• Day / Evening schedule
• 40 hours minimum per week
• Up to 50 hours per week as needed
• No weekends
• No call
Coverage Needed
• June 1 through October 2
• Full-time coverage preferred
Practice Overview
• Inpatient Cardiac Surgery ICU
• Step-down unit coverage
• Adult patient population
• EMR: Epic
• Non-operative role
Team Structure
• Collaborative APP team model
• Supervising physicians onsite
• Critical care physician support available
• Autonomous daily practice expected
Clinical Responsibilities
• Manage ICU and step-down cardiac surgery patients
• Daily rounding and patient assessments
• Documentation and progress notes
• Phone coverage for inpatient service
• Coordinate care plans with physicians and nursing teams
• Monitor post-operative and medically complex patients
Procedural Scope
Providers should be comfortable with:
• Central line placement
• Arterial line placement
• Chest tube placement
• Chest tube removal
• Wound VAC changes
Ideal Background
• ICU / Critical Care experience required
• Cardiac critical care preferred
• Inpatient medicine with cardiology focus highly valued
• No OR experience required
Practice Environment
• High-acuity inpatient setting
• Structured weekday schedule
• Strong physician collaboration
• Fast credentialing: approximately 6 weeks
• Ongoing coverage block available
Qualifications
• AANP certification
• Active New York license
• ACLS certification
• Epic experience required
• ICU experience required
• No new graduates
