JOB SUMMARY: Responsible direct oversight of the day-to-day operations of PIHC Pharmacy. Ensures standards of quality, productivity and performance in accordance with PIHC Pharmacy Policy and Procedures in compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies and upholding integrity of 340B program. Uses problem-solving skills, tact, and discretion to direct the pharmacyโ€™s delivery of pharmaceutical care. Ensures pharmacy personnel are scheduled and staffed to maintain high quality pharmacy services; trains, coaches, counsels, and conduct disciplinary functions as appropriate. Works in conjunction with various levels of management to resolve issues and is expected to understand factors that drive quality and financial performance of the pharmacy. Responsible for buying and maintaining necessary equipment and supplies. Monitors pharmacy performance around inventory management and utilization of resources to maximize savings and minimize cost. Oversees and participates in pharmacist duties, including dispensing appropriate prescription medication. Counsels patients on proper medication usage. Implements and upholds proper pharmacy and general safety procedures and standards. Assists members while providing a high level of patient care. Accurately reviews and interprets medication orders; prepares accurate and complete patient profile; reviews profiles for correct drug, dosage and route of administration; ensures that a drug duplication or drug-drug interaction does not exists; ensures that patient is not allergic to any medication prescribed. Efficiently performs other professional pharmacy duties including the safe procurement, preparation, labeling, distribution and control of all drugs. Actively supports and participates in pharmacy activities recommended by accreditation agencies and regulatory agencies.

Requirements:
  • Pharmacist Duties: Oversees and participates in duties including order entry, preparation, labeling, dispensing, and distribution of medications. Reviews prescriptions issued by the Physicians, or other authorized prescriber to assure accuracy and appropriateness of medication. Answers questions and provides information to patients on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage of medications.
  • Pharmacy Management: Direct supervision of pharmacy personnel duties including order entry, preparation, labeling, dispensing, and distribution of medications. Responds to employee concerns and responds in accordance with PIHC Pharmacyโ€™s policies and other applicable regulations. Approves timecards and other reports or procedures as needed.
  • Talent: Participates in hiring, training, and completion of evaluations for Pharmacy personnel. Works with Culture and Talent Management to ensure all pharmacy, pharmacist, and technician licenses/registrations are current and valid as required by state, federal, and company guidelines.
  • 340B Program Compliance and Administration: Works with 340B Program Manager and other PIHC Pharmacy Leadership in developing effective documentation to satisfy HRSAโ€™s requirements. Assists with generation and auditing of 340B replenishment orders, participates in 340B compliance team meetings and audits and ensures pharmacy staff are in compliance with the programโ€™s guidelines.
  • Quality Assurance: Responsible for quality assurance and root cause analysis of pharmacy incidents. Performs all Prescription Monitoring Program reporting. Implements and upholds proper pharmacy and general safety procedures and standards.
  • Compliance: Complies with State and Federal drug laws as regulated by the State Board of Pharmacy and the Drug Enforcement Administration by maintaining records for controlled substances, removing outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory, and maintaining current registration. Acts as Pharmacist-In-Charge, point of contact for regulatory, legal, third party insurance companies, and audit situations.
  • Business Performance: Collaborate with Pharmacy leadership to identify and establish performance goals which may include new growth opportunities, pharmacy pull through and retention rates, inventory management to minimize loss and maximize profits, optimal processing to ensure best utilization of agencyโ€™s resources.
  • Teamwork: Assists the PIHC management team and healthcare providers to ensure departmental goals are achieved. Participates in performance improvement initiatives and other activities to improve patient outcomes and efficiency of services. Acts within the facility location as the pharmacy point person for any multi-department initiatives.
  • Customer Service. Exemplifies excellent customer service internally to staff and externally to patients, vendors and the community.
  • Marketing: Work with Pharmacy Leadership to identify and enhance activities to promote pharmacy services internally and externally.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by appropriate management.
  • Becomes an AAHIVM certified Pharmacist as soon as possible within the parameters of AAHIVMโ€™s program requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

โ€ข BS Pharmacy Degree or Pharm D

AND

โ€ข Three years of experience in a pharmacy management role in a retail pharmacy setting preferred


Preferred Qualifications or Experience:

โ€ข Experience working in HIV and/or Mental Health Specialty Pharmacy field.

โ€ข Have advanced HIV knowledge or be willing to be self-driven in becoming an HIV specialist

โ€ข AAHIVM or other HIV expert certification (or willingness to obtain during tenure)

โ€ข Experience working in a 340B Pharmacy or 340B Contract Pharmacy

โ€ข Experience with PioneerRx software


Licensure:

Active Georgia Pharmacist license in good standing


Preferred Skills:
