Job description

Nashville Wire Products, an established local manufacturer of steel wire products for the material handling industry is growing and accepting resumes for Machine Operator Setup Technician for Resistance Welding Equipment at our Frankfort, Kentucky location.  This position generally works a 50-hour workweek, and we are currently offering a double time incentive for all overtime hours.

3rd shift base schedule 8:00 pm - 6:30 am Sunday - Thursday 

  • pay progression for Class 3: ($1/hr shift differential included) $22.25 start, $23.25 at 90 days, $24.50 at 1 year.
  • pay progression for Class 4: ($1/hr shift differential included) $26.50 start, $27.50 at 90 days, $28.50 at 1 year.

Class designation is determined by our management team based upon skill set and prior work experience.

 Responsibilities include: 

  • Performs machine set-ups within established standards and make necessary adjustments including, inputting data and programming changes to computerized production machinery, as required.
  • Operates automated welding and metal forming equipment by setting up production jobs then monitors equipment during operation until jobs are complete.
  • Trains others how to safely operate machinery meeting established production, set-up, and quality standards.
  • Performs and/or assists with preventive, minor, and major maintenance functions on production machinery.
  • Conducts quality inspections to verify all parts meet blueprint specifications and quality tolerances and are usable for next operations and performs necessary rework and minor repairs on non-conforming parts. 
  • Must meet and/or exceed established production, set-up, and quality standards.
  • Must keep accurate counts of production parts ran though machinery and accurately report on appropriate paperwork.

Applicants must have recent steady work history with experience performing computer and mechanical machine set ups and troubleshooting while running production jobs.  Equipment includes PLC controlled machinery, hydraulic and mechanical stamping presses, and automated resistance welding systems. Prior experience interpreting blueprints and reading tape measure required. Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic mathematical functions is required.  Prior experience with computer operated equipment is required.  Must be able to communicate technical information and determine acceptable machine performance and bring machinery to standard when necessary.  During a 10 hour shift this position regularly performs heavy lifting (up to 60 pounds) bending and stooping.  This position requires standing on concrete floors for long periods of time, and may be subject to extreme temperatures as plant production areas are not air conditioned.  Excellent attendance and punctuality are required.  Successful applicants must pass drug screen, and 7-year background check for misdemeanors and felonies.

Full time benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance availability first of month after 30 days of service, 40 hours vacation after 6 months of service, 80 hours vacation after 1 year of service, 10 hours of paid sick time every 90 days of service until you have completed 1 year of service, then 30 hours of paid sick time annually, 401k with 100% match up to 4% following 1 year of service, 9 paid holidays, employer paid short and long term disability, and $1/hr shift differential for night shift.  We are currently offering a double time incentive for all overtime hours.
