Job description

Reports to: Program Coordinator

Supervises: Referees

Wage: $15/hour

GENERAL PURPOSE

The Flag Football League Supervisor serves under the direction of and general supervision of the Sports Program Coordinators and the Recreation Director. The Flag Football program begins September. Hours may vary depending on season and league programming. Typical weeknight work consist of a 4-6 hour shift between the hours of 4:30PM-10:00PM. Flag Football League Site Supervisor should possess knowledge of general sports rules, skills in communicating effectively with coaches, players, officials, and spectators. FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  • Working under direct supervision of the recreation program coordinators.
  • Attending all scheduled games and arrive 30 minutes prior to game time.
  • Ability to work well with youth and adults.
  • Overseeing staff assigned by league coordinator, i.e.,  referees.
  • Supervising assigned league games, report league information to coordinator.
  • Assisting coordinators with training of youth staff.
  • Assisting with coaches' meetings, and any necessary league preparation.
  • Submittal of all supervised staff hours
  • Schedule would be between Tuesday - Thursday nights, and some Saturdays.
  • Setup/take down and clean-up of facilities after each game day.
  • Substituting as supervisor for other programs within the recreation department.
  • Assisting with all other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIREMENTS

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must have good oral and written communication abilities
  • Good public relation skills and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work with all ages of youth and adults.
  • Ability to follow basic safety precautions and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in sometimes stressful environments.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Experience working in a supervisory position preferred but not required.
  • Flag Football related experience preferred but not required.

CONDITIONS

  • Moderate physical activity. Ability to lift 15 to 50 pounds
  • Position requires walking, standing, lifting and other physical activity.
  • Work Weeknights and or Saturdays
