Blue Ridge Dynamics is seeking a Software Engineer to design, build, and support the services, APIs, databases, and integrations that power modern web applications.

The ideal candidate has experience developing production backend systems using Node.js, TypeScript, and PostgreSQL. You will work closely with frontend developers, designers, technical leads, and project managers to deliver secure, reliable, and maintainable software solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain backend applications and services using Node.js and TypeScript.
  • Design and build secure RESTful APIs.
  • Create and maintain database schemas, queries, migrations, and data-access patterns.
  • Integrate applications with external systems, data repositories, cloud services, and third-party APIs.
  • Implement authentication, authorization, and secure data-handling practices.
  • Write clean, tested, and well-documented code.
  • Troubleshoot application, database, performance, and integration issues.
  • Support Docker-based development, CI/CD pipelines, and application deployments.
  • Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and Agile development activities.

Required Qualifications

  • At least two years of professional backend development experience.
  • Strong experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and Node.js.
  • Experience with frameworks such as NestJS, Fastify, or Express.
  • Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or another relational database.
  • Understanding of database design, indexing, transactions, and query optimization.
  • Experience with Git, automated testing, debugging, and secure coding practices.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with TypeScript, NestJS, Fastify, PostgreSQL, or Drizzle ORM.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Familiarity with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, and role-based access control.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, object storage, microservices, background processing, or offline data synchronization.
  • Experience supporting applications in government, restricted, or disconnected environments.

Employment may be subject to customer-specific citizenship, security-clearance, background-investigation, or facility-access requirements.

Blue Ridge Dynamics is an equal opportunity employer.
