1st Shift – Monday–Thursday 6:00 PM-4:00PM.

Description:

We are seeking an experienced Welder/Fitter (TIG Specialist) for our client close to Decatur,AL. As a Welder/Fitter, you will fit, position, and TIG weld complex, custom ornamental metal components. You will work primarily with stainless steel, aluminum, and brass, transforming detailed blueprints into flawless architectural pieces. This is a great opportunity to work with a leading automotive manufacturer while building your long-term career.

Responsibilities

  • TIG Welding: Perform high-quality, visually clean TIG welds on various gauges of metal.

  • Fitting & Fabrication: Read blueprints to fit, align, and tack-weld components accurately.

  • Material Prep: Cut, grind, and prep materials to meet strict aesthetic and structural specs.

  • Quality Control: Inspect finished products to ensure zero defects and smooth finishes.

  • Safety: Maintain a clean, organized workstation and adhere to all shop safety protocols.

  • Follow safe work practices.

  • Clean up the work area at the end of the day.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional TIG welding experience, preferably in ornamental metalwork.

  • Technical Skill: Proven ability to create clean, "stack-of-dimes " welds on thin-gauge materials.

  • Blueprint Literacy: Advanced ability to read and interpret complex architectural drawings.

  • Math Skills: Strong knowledge of geometry and fractions for accurate layout and fitting.

  • Tools: Proficient with fabrication tools like grinders, saws, shears, and fixtures.

  • Testing: Must pass an in-house blueprint reading and TIG welding test.

  • High School Diploma/GED or graduation from certified technical school.

  • Must accurately read tape measure (assessment given).

  • Strong work ethic, good attendance, and ability to follow instructions.

  • Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs. and work occasional overtime.

  • Steel-toed boots required.

  • Must pass background & drug screening.
