Job description

Kelly® is looking for a Production Welder to work at John Deere in Paton, IA. Let us help you grow in your career while being a vital part of your community.
Pay: $27.81 per hour
Shift: 1st Shift, 6AM to 4:30 PM Monday-Thursday (Overtime possible on Friday, rarely on the weekend.)
Weld test required  
Production Welder performs manual arc welding and/or automatic welding operations in a team environment. You will perform a variety of welding and other production operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role emphasizes Safety, Quality, and Teamwork, while supporting the production of world-class equipment.
Types of Machines, Tools and Equipment Used or Operated:
Varies by specific duties. Includes but is not limited to: electric arc welder, inert gas equipment, seam welder, flash or upset welder, grinder, safety equipment, measuring and testing equipment, hoists, material handling equipment, gages, various hand tools.
Job Details are dependent on duties assigned but in general consist of the following:
  • Weld parts and sub-assemblies to specification using various welding processes.
  • Provide production operation support as needed in areas outside of welding (assembly, paint, forklift, fabrication, etc.)
  • Adjust voltage, heat, pressure, and speed to maintain quality.
  • Read and comprehend work instructions and follow established procedures.
  • Utilize manufacturing tools to record data and keep records for quality and maintenance.
  • Check results for conformance to specifications and make necessary corrections.
  • Operate power driven equipment such as forklifts and industrial trucks to move material, parts, and equipment.
  • Use various types of tools and equipment to perform work - including but not limited to CNC / robotic welding equipment, safety equipment, manual arc welders, grinders, hoists, fixtures, and applicable hand and power tools.
  • Lubricate, check, and clean work equipment and tooling.
  • Assist and support other team members.
  • Clean work area and perform other miscellaneous duties inherent to the job.

This Job Might Be an Outstanding Fit If You:
  • Are at least 18 years of age.
  • Have one of the following: High School Diploma or G.E.D., National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC), or at least 3 years of manufacturing work experience.
  • Can perform manual tasks (frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, and repetitive actions).
  • Can successfully complete a Physical Capacity Profile (PCP) test before placement.
  • Ability and willingness to work any shift and potential overtime (including possible weekends) 
  • Ability to perform manual tasks related to described job duties for duration of work shift; including but not limited to frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and performing of repetitive actions.
