Required Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in counseling or a related field.
  • Four (4) years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Accessibility Services certificate preferred.
  • State of Florida Licensed Mental Health Professional preferred.
  • Supervision and Higher Education experience preferred.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direction and oversight for the administration of accessibility services and counseling department functions. Develops and recommends operating budget requirements for the department. Manages and maintains department policies, procedures, and protocols in compliance with state and federal requirements. Ensures compliance with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) by supervising the maintenance, security, and proper disclosure of department records.
  • Assist in the management of the college's student code of conduct process by participating in a collaborative student discipline process with the Office of Judicial Affairs and attending Judicial meetings as required. This includes assisting with the security and safety of students; responsible for problem solving, mediation, intervention, crisis, and risk management. In addition to supporting students by providing them with referrals to campus and community resources as needed for prevention, intervention and other services. Work closely with Academic Affairs, Enrollment Services, Judicial Affairs, Campus Safety, Athletics, Residence Life and the College community.
  • Coordinate data collection and completes regular reporting for areas of responsibility for state, federal and college reports monthly, quarterly, annually and as required. Respond to inquiries and/or concerns from students, staff, or the general public to solve problems or discrepancies. Research and troubleshoot areas that need development and improvement. Collaborate effectively with other areas and departments to identify and support activities of benefit to the entire College. Attend or conduct staff and other College meetings to exchange information; Serve as liaison for areas of responsibility with other individuals, groups, and organizations both internal and external to the College community. Assist Student Development as required for events, activities and student support.
  • Provide supervision and management for employees in the areas of responsibility including select, train, assign, evaluate, performance counseling and discipline subordinate staff. Develop and distribute cleardirectives necessary for effective and efficient administration of the department. Coordinate, plan and organize the activities of the assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Facilitate and support the Course Substitution process in collaboration with the Course Substitution Committee and Academic Affairs.
  • Collaborate with college departments, identify and support mutual activities to benefit disabled students and the college. Coordinate, facilitate and provide presentations, training and programming for employees and students related to accessibility services, mental health wellness and counseling to include presentations during Fall Planning and Spring Planning. Provide assistance with crisis intervention for students with mental health emergencies on campus including participating in on-call responsibilities and after-hours mental health emergencies.
  • Serve as a member of the Retention Committee, Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) and other appropriate committees on campus. Serve as a member of the Administration On-Call team for the Residence Hall.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and leadership ability.
  • Must be comfortable with adaptive technology including the Microsoft Office Suite as well as be familiar with reporting systems (PeopleSoft).
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and be flexible in order to match the demands of the College.
  • Must also be able to function effectively in a team environment and have the ability to grasp concepts quickly.
  • Must have an excellent working knowledge of ADA-504 regulations as it relates to higher education public state institutions.
  • Must also have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse student and staff population.
