Job description

Job Title: Kitchen Assistant
Location: Bronx, NY 10475
Start Date: July 1, 2026


SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Work closely with the kitchen manager and demonstrate Capital Prep Harbor School values, by providing the highest level of service possible in an efficient, courteous, and professional manner to ensure a positive experience to the young customers.

The kitchen assistant will follow and perform all the rules and policies for the Child Nutrition Program.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

โ— Help in the kitchen, set up, and assemble line for lunch easy flow.

โ— Cashiering during lunch meals.

โ— Provide prompt, courteous, and professional service to students and staff.

โ— Clean up once meals have been served.

โ— Follow safe and proper procedures in the course of daily work

โ— Arrive on time and demonstrate effective time management.

โ— Attend yearly training required by the USDA.

โ— Other duties as assigned, including tasks that support the essential functions of the Child Nutrition Program.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

โ— Must hold NYC Food Server Certification.

โ— Must have excellent communication and people skills.

โ— Must possess basic math skills.

โ— Ability to multi-task and be detailed oriented.

โ— Able to successfully work independently and as part of the team.

โ— Ability to work unsupervised must be focused and detailed.

โ— Ability to lift and carry at least 20 pounds.

โ— Ability to stand on feet for a long period of time. Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

โ— Comply with applicable sanitation, health, and personal hygiene standards.
