Are you a passionate piano teacher who believes music lessons should be both fun and meaningful? Do you enjoy helping students reach their potential—whether they dream of playing Beethoven, Billy Joel, or BTS? If so, we’d love to hear from you!
About Us:
Castro Valley School of Music is a dynamic, community-rooted music school offering private and group instruction tailored to each student’s interests, goals, and learning style. Our teachers are professional, encouraging, and truly love what they do—and it shows!
Position Summary:
We’re looking for a dedicated Piano Instructor to join our team. This is a part-time, in-person position for private lessons. You’ll teach students ranging from young beginners to advanced teens and adult hobbyists.
Job Summary
The Piano Instructor will provide engaging, individualized piano instruction to students of varying ages and skill levels. Candidates should be confident working with both children and adults in a fun, structured, and musically enriching environment.
General Accountabilities
  • Teach private piano lessons in-studio
  • Develop customized lesson plans based on each student’s goals and progress
  • Maintain a positive, motivating learning environment
  • Prepare students for recitals and other performance opportunities
  • Communicate regularly with parents about student progress
  • Arrive on time and maintain a professional, friendly demeanor
Job Qualifications
  • Proficient in piano performance and pedagogy (degree in music is a plus)
  • Prior teaching experience with children and/or teens preferred
  • Ability to teach various styles (classical, pop, jazz, etc.) a plus
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Reliable transportation and availability on weekday afternoons and/or Saturdays
  • Enthusiastic, warm, and student-focused teaching style

  • Can accompany students or teach some basic improvisation
  • Love coffee, chord charts, and making music fun
  • Are open to growing with us long-term
