Manufacturing Planner - Peachtree City (GA), USA

Location:

Employment Type:

Full‑Time, On‑site, Remote

What We Offer:

  • Competitive compensation based on experience.
  • Supportive environment focused on clarity, structure, and improvement.
  • Opportunities to expand into training documentation or quality systems.
  • Stable, long‑term employment within a growing organization.

About the Role:

The Manufacturing Planner / Scheduler is responsible for creating, coordinating, and maintaining the production schedule for all machining-related operations within the facility. This includes high-speed milling, 5-axis machining, grinding, polishing, benching, inspection, and assembly. The Planner ensures that customer deadlines are met, capacity is optimized, and jobs move efficiently through the shop. This role acts as the communication hub between operations, machining, programming, engineering, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain the daily, weekly, and long-range machining schedule.
  • Schedule work across high-speed mills, 5-axis machining centers, grinding, polishing, benching, inspection, and assembly.
  • Ensure all jobs have the required prints, CAM files, materials, tooling, and fixtures before release.
  • Prioritize jobs based on customer deadlines, lead times, revision changes, and workflow constraints.
  • Identify capacity conflicts and adjust the schedule proactively.

Who are you?

You are an organized and detail-oriented planner with a solid understanding of machining and production workflows. You can confidently schedule work across multiple processes while ensuring all jobs are fully prepared before release. You excel at prioritizing based on deadlines, capacity, and changing requirements, and you proactively resolve scheduling conflicts.

What you bring to IGS/What we expect from you:

  • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing planning, production scheduling, or shop coordination.
  • Knowledge of machining operations such as high-speed milling, 5-axis machining, grinding, finishing, and inspection.
  • Ability to understand technical drawings, routings, and machining sequences.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP scheduling systems.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.

Nice to have knowledge of:

  • Experience in moldmaking, precision machining, aerospace, or tool-and-die environments.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as JobBOSS, ProShop, Epicor, or SAP.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing and workflow optimization principles.

Monitoring & Optimization:

  • Track WIP (Work in Progress) through each stage of machining and finishing.
  • Identify bottlenecks, idle machines, or under-utilized resources and adjust accordingly.
  • Monitor critical-path components and ensure on-time progress.
  • Recommend process improvements to reduce lead time and improve throughput
