Job description

Overview

 

Why do zebras have stripes? Does a mouse have a house? Guiding activities, leading walk, creating art, and classroom management are all part of life in the ZooKids classroom. If helping our most pint- sized Zoo guests discover the wonder and awe of wildlife and wild places is your passion...a job within the ZooKids team could be a good fit for you.

Responsibilities

Position implements ZooKids preschool programming during the school year for the Zoo's 3-year-old and 4-5-year-old classes. Job functions include, but are not limited to, delivering educational programming; actively participating in activities and classroom management; ensuring the overall safety and well-being of preschool-aged children; setting up and cleaning up program activities; and preparing lessons and activities.

Hours: 

September through May 
  • The first day of class is September 8. 
  • (Optional to attend) Meet the Teacher night is the evening of September 1 & 2.
 Hours would be:
  • Tuesday/Thursday 8:30-4:00
  • Wednesday/Friday 8:30- 1:00.  
 Two week break at the end of the year.Qualifications
  • Experience teaching preschool aged children preferred.
  • Able to work well with young children.
  • Able to balance multiple assignments successfully.
  • Able to work in varied weather conditions (i.e. extreme heat, rain).
  • Able to work successfully in a team setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Able to maintain courteous and helpful behavior.
  • Subject to Drug Free Workplace Policy.
  • Subject to BMV check.
  • Subject to Criminal Background check and fingerprinting.
