Job description

EMH&T is currently seeking a Structural (Bridge) Civil Engineer (EI) to join our Transportation Planning & Design team located in Columbus, OH.

Our EIs work under the guidance of experienced Engineers and Project Managers who provide mentorship and support throughout your career development. Additionally, EMH&T offers a dedicated support team to train you on our drafting and design standards, ensuring you are well-prepared for success in this role.

The structures team designs bridges, culverts, retaining walls, foundations, and related structures.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in plan production tasks, including base mapping, modeling, and detailing for projects including structural engineering, designing reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, and steel structures - including bridges, culverts, retaining walls, foundations, and related structures.
  • Creates drawings utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D and Open Roads.
  • Assists with preliminary and completed layouts, design concepts, and detailed design drawings from technical notes, sketches, and/or other drawings, ensuring they meet our company and industry standards and codes.
  • Performs basic calculations on assigned portions/phases of multiple projects to deliver solutions.
  • Researches and prepares estimates for project costs by calculating labor, materials and related cost.
