Grove City Veterinary Hospital has been serving the pets of Grove City, Ohio, and surrounding areas since 1975! Since then our team has grown to include two full-time veterinarians and a well-trained staff of veterinary nurses, assistants, and customer service representatives. We’re dedicated to serving cats and dogs in the Grove City, Ohio area and beyond with passion and expertise.

$100 SIGN-ON BONUS!

Pay is based upon experience and training required.

$15: No veterinary experience and applicant would require significant training.

$16: Previous animal care or veterinary experience resulting in moderate training. 

$17: Experienced Veterinary Assistant who is able to perform duties independently with minimal training. 


  • Patience & Compassion: Remaining professional while still making teammates, clients, and patients feel as comfortable as possible regardless of the situation or challenges presented. Responding quickly and calmly to crisis while maintaining a high standard of patient care.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork: Carefully coordinating actions with veterinarians and practice team members. Providing feedback appropriately and in a timely manner. Quickly incorporating feedback to ensure positive results. Sharing ideas and being open to other’s ideas.
  • Communicating: Conveying instructions to clients and teammates to ensure successful patient care.
  • Active Listening: Following the instructions of veterinarians and sometimes patient owners. Picking up the needs of veterinarians and teammates based on prior experiences and feedback.
  • Organization Skills: Clear tracking of lab specimens, medications, patient instructions, workflow, and other job-related items while managing multiple patients and clients.
  • Client Satisfaction: Ensuring all activities and interactions result in the highest level of client satisfaction.

  • As a Veterinary Assistant, you will:
    • Assist veterinarians in medical procedures.
    • Obtain patient histories, record vital signs, and provide client education.
    • Collect and process laboratory samples; perform in-house diagnostics.
    • Take and maintain radiographs using proper safety protocols.
    • Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed.
    • Provide safe animal handling (using Fear-Free and Low Stress Handling techniques) and compassionate patient care.
    • Maintain clean, organized exam rooms, treatment areas, and equipment.
    • Communicate clearly with doctors and team members regarding patient care plans and client concerns.

  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds independently (more with assistance).
  • Commitment to OSHA safety standards and proper PPE use.
  • Basic computer proficiency, working knowledge or willingness to learn EzyVet PiMS software, Vetcove Home Delivery, PetDesk, and Idexx bench top machines.
