Job description

Total Veterinary Care in Grove City (Greater Columbus Area), a three-doctor, privately-owned (non-corporate) general day practice, is looking for a dedicated, motivated, and experienced vet assistant to join our dynamic team. If you are passionate about animal care, client education, and have proven skills as a vet assistant, we want to hear from you!

Hiring range: $17 - $20 per hour, depending on experience and skill-level.

Schedule:

Hospital hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m, Monday through Saturday

  • Candidates must be available a minimum of 30 hours each week to be considered full-time

  • Candidates must be available to work a rotating Saturday schedule


We are looking for someone who:

  • Has at least 1 FULL YEAR (12+ months) of full-time experience as a veterinary assistant in a general practice, small animal hospital

  • Has the ability to demonstrate: proper restraining techniques, in-house laboratory skills, catheter placement, blood draws, ability to accurately fill prescriptions, etc.

  • Has solid soft skills/people skills including: effective communication with clients and fellow team members, problem-solving, work ethic, maturity, time-management, and other interpersonal skills

  • Has a solid understanding of preventative medications, medical terminology and calculations, and a passion for client education

  • Takes initiative by preparing for each day’s appointments, taking phone calls, setting appointments, taking medical history of patients, assisting veterinarians in surgery, physical exams, and diagnostic workups

  • Can demonstrate efficient organization and has the ability to pay attention to multiple details by taking initiative and staying motivated to provide excellent service to our clients

  • Wants to learn new skills and is focused on using them to advance their careers for the betterment of themselves, their team, and the clients and patients we serve

  • Has a positive attitude and is an effective and respectful team player
