Job description

We are seeking a skilled BIW Tool Design Engineer with approximately 5 years of experience in tool design and manufacturing, along with strong hands-on expertise in CATIA V5 & CATIA V6. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of Body-in-White (BIW) tooling and design processes and be capable of working independently to manage and integrate engineering design data from multiple vendors.

This role supports the Equipment Production Department (EPD) by managing mechanical design data, validating CAD deliverables, and ensuring accurate integration of engineering documentation into Honda's design and data management systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, validate, and manage 2D and 3D mechanical design data received from multiple vendors.
  • Process and integrate CATIA V5/V6, STEP files, and 2D drawings into the appropriate CAD models and storage locations.
  • Verify and maintain engineering documentation, including:
  • Bill of Materials (BOM)
  • 2D Drawings
  • Spare Parts Lists
  • Supporting design documentation
  • Perform quality checks on CAD models and drawings before release into the Honda engineering network.
  • Track engineering data and maintain project documentation to ensure design revisions are accurately recorded.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and internal engineering teams to resolve design-related issues.
  • Ensure all CAD data meets company standards and release requirements.
  • Work independently on assigned vendor packages with minimal supervision.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Approximately 5 years of experience in:
  • Tool Design
  • Manufacturing Engineering
  • Mechanical Design
  • Strong hands-on experience with CATIA V5 and CATIA V6.
  • Experience working with:
  • 3D CAD Models
  • 2D Drawings
  • BOM Management
  • STEP Files
  • Good understanding of engineering drawing standards and mechanical documentation.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Body-in-White (BIW) Design and Tooling.
  • Experience supporting automotive manufacturing or production engineering.
  • Knowledge of CAD data management and engineering release processes.
  • Familiarity with automotive tooling, fixture design, and production equipment.
  • Experience working with OEMs or automotive suppliers is highly preferred.
