Job Brief
Kable Workforce Solutions is hiring a Sheet Metal Journeyman for our client. This job involves cutting, shaping, and forming sheet metal using tools such as shears, brakes, and lasers. Responsibilities include interpreting blueprints to produce custom metal parts, operating welding and soldering equipment, assembling and installing fabricated components, and maintaining and calibrating equipment.
What’s a Typical Day Like?
  • Cut, shape, and form sheet metal into specified designs using tools such as shears, brakes, and lasers.
  • Interpret blueprints and technical drawings to produce custom metal parts and components.
  • Operate welding and soldering equipment to join metal parts together securely.
  • Assemble and install fabricated sheet metal products, ensuring proper fit and alignment.
  • Maintain and calibrate equipment and tools to ensure efficiency and quality.
  • Inspect and test fabricated metal parts for accuracy, smoothness, and durability.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to discuss requirements and timelines.
  • Follow safety procedures and protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Ensure all work complies with quality control standards and regulatory guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot and repair any issues that arise during production.
What Are the Requirements of the Job?
  • Proven experience working with sheet metal fabrication, welding, or metalworking.
  • Proficient in reading technical blueprints and schematics.
  • Strong knowledge of sheet metal tools and machinery (shears, brakes, lathes, etc.).
  • Ability to work with a variety of metals such as steel, aluminum, and copper.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Physical stamina to handle heavy materials and work in demanding environments.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations in metalworking.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or training in sheet metal fabrication is a plus.
  • Previous experience as a sheet metal worker or in a similar role is preferred.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to move or lift up to 50+ lbs.
  • Ability to reach, grasp, hold, push, pull, bend, twist, squat, climb, kneel.
  • Ability to utilize hand/eye coordination.
  • Capability to stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Communication skills.
