Job description

More Than a Job, It's a Calling

At Akron Children's, helping patients and families is at the heart of all we do. We are the only freestanding, independent pediatric hospital in the region, and our compassionate providers are committed to delivering a lasting and meaningful impact.

Whether you're early in your career or a seasoned specialist, you'll find opportunities to expand your skills, pursue leadership roles, participate in research and help shape the future of pediatric health care.

If you're ready to make a difference in a collaborative, child-centered environment, we can't wait to meet you!

Akron Children's Heart Center seeks a full-time, pediatric cardiologist with expertise in cardiac imaging (CT, MRI, transesophageal and fetal echocardiography). The successful candidate will join a well-established group as Director of Cardiac Imaging, expanding the services of the Heart Center team.

Candidates must have an MD or DO and be board-certified in pediatric cardiology. Clinical expertise in cardiac CT and MRI is required. Fetal echocardiography experience would be beneficial but is not required. Heart program leadership and research experience is desirable. Salary and rank are dependent upon qualifications.

Clinical work will be focused on imaging, but candidates will also participate in inpatient general pediatric cardiology service and outpatient clinic. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the candidate will be expected to teach medical students along with other academic pursuits.

Akron Children's Heart Center is a strong service line, composed of senior and junior faculty and currently comprises 2 congenital heart surgeons, 16 pediatric cardiologists (2 interventional cardiologists) and 7 advanced practice providers who provide a complete spectrum of coordinated, compassionate cardiac care to over 16,000 patients annually across 10 locations. Akron Children's program performs over 320 combined OR and Cath cases, with a volume of about 100 CTs and MRIs per year. Akron Children's also has a strong network of primary care with 46 locations in Ohio, and the heart program has been in existence for 25 years. A full range of services are offered in the Heart Center, including a dedicated, multi-acuity heart unit, single ventricle palliation, adult congenital heart disease care, and full-service interventional cardiology and electrophysiology programs.

What you can expect:

* Competitive, guaranteed base salary

* Collaboration with a supportive, integrated team

* Comprehensive benefits package

* Opportunities for leadership and program development

* Generous vacation and CME time

* Impressive recruitment incentives

* A well-balanced work / life culture

Akron Children's is a 501(c)(3) site that qualifies for Public Service Loan Forgiveness through the federal government.

Required Qualifications:

* Board eligibility/certification in Pediatric Cardiology

* Eligibility for medical licensure in Ohio
