Position Summary

The OSP Construction Manager is responsible for managing daily outside plant (OSP) construction operations supporting fiber network deployments. This role provides field leadership, contractor oversight, quality control, and project execution support to ensure construction activities are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with company and customer requirements.

The OSP Construction Manager will serve as a key operational leader for the Ohio market, coordinating with Project Managers, Inspectors, Contractors, Engineering, Permitting, and other internal teams to successfully deliver large-scale fiber construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day OSP construction activities, including underground and aerial fiber deployments.
  • Provide field leadership and oversight to construction crews, contractors, and inspectors.
  • Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Monitor contractor performance, productivity, quality, and adherence to project schedules.
  • Conduct regular field inspections and resolve construction issues impacting schedule, cost, or quality.
  • Coordinate daily construction activities with Project Managers, Engineering, Permitting, and other stakeholders.
  • Review construction plans, drawings, permits, and specifications to ensure proper execution.
  • Track production metrics, identify risks, and implement corrective actions when needed.
  • Support material planning, equipment coordination, and construction readiness.
  • Assist with project forecasting, change management, and cost control.
  • Maintain accurate construction documentation, including daily reports, photos, safety documentation, and project updates.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and company policies.
  • Support contractor meetings, customer meetings, and project status reviews.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years of OSP telecommunications construction experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of construction management or field leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of underground and aerial fiber construction methods.
  • Experience managing telecommunications contractors and field personnel.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, permits, and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of fiber installation processes, including conduit placement, boring, trenching, restoration, and splicing support.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting large-scale fiber network deployments.
  • Experience with long-haul, metro, or data center fiber construction.
  • Knowledge of DOT requirements, permitting processes, and utility coordination.
  • Experience with construction management platforms, GIS systems, and reporting tools.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Previous experience managing subcontractor performance and production reporting.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to regularly visit active construction sites.
