Job description

Cable Technician (Fiber Validation & Troubleshooting)Must-Have Skills
  1. Fiber Testing & Validation
  • OTDR testing
  • Fluke meter usage
  • Fiber verification and validation
  1. Layer 1 Troubleshooting
  • Diagnose connectivity issues
  • Physical network infrastructure troubleshooting
  • Cable and fiber fault isolation
  1. Network Fundamentals
  • Strong Layer 1 knowledge
  • Understanding of telecom/network infrastructure
  • Ability to read technical design documentation (EDP)
Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Fiber splicing
  • Cable installation
  • Cat5/Cat6 cabling
  • Copper infrastructure experience
  • Telecom, ISP, or enterprise network experience

Core Responsibilities
  • Perform fiber audits and infrastructure validation.
  • Test and troubleshoot improperly functioning network installations.
  • Verify inventory, connectivity, and network documentation.
  • Identify and resolve physical network discrepancies.
  • Create audit reports and maintain circuit documentation.
  • Partner with engineering and operations teams.

Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Cable Technician, Fiber Technician, Network Technician, or Field Technician background.
  • Hands-on experience using OTDRs and Fluke testers.
  • Strong troubleshooting mindset with Layer 1 networking expertise.
  • Comfortable validating fiber and copper environments.
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation skills.
  • Able to work in active data center, telecom, or enterprise network environments.

Additional Skills & QualificationsCurrent Site Locations: The immediate need is in Columbus Ohio for 5-6 months. However, this is subject to change. Location: 1 Community Circle, New Albany, Ohio.

Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. The role includes a rotating on-call schedule. During site turn-up's, the schedule shifts to 10-hour days, 6 days per week.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
