Job Title:Visiting FellowDepartment:FAES | School of Environment and Natural Resources-JM

The Rattan Lal Center for Carbon Management and Sequestration (Lal Carbon Center) invites applications for a Visiting Fellow position. This position is intended for researchers with a Ph.D. in Soil Science or a closely related discipline, or equivalent research experience. The successful candidate will contribute to interdisciplinary research focused on soil health, carbon sequestration, sustainable land management, and climate-smart agricultural systems.

The Visiting Fellow will work collaboratively with faculty, research scientists, postdoctoral researchers, and students within the Lal Carbon Center. The position offers opportunities to conduct independent and collaborative research in laboratory, greenhouse, and field settings.

Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Soil Science, Agronomy, Environmental Science, or a related field, or equivalent research experience.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting research under laboratory, greenhouse, and field conditions.
  • Knowledge of standard soil sampling and analytical procedures.
  • Experience with statistical analysis and interpretation of research data.
  • Strong scientific writing skills, including preparation of manuscripts, technical reports, and presentations.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary research team.
ResponsibilitiesResearch
  • Design, implement, and conduct research projects related to soil carbon, soil health, and sustainable land management.
  • Perform laboratory, greenhouse, and field experiments.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret research data.
  • Collaborate with Center researchers on ongoing projects and grant-funded initiatives.
Literature Review
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of scientific literature relevant to Center research priorities.
  • Identify knowledge gaps and emerging research opportunities.
  • Contribute to the development of research proposals and project plans.
Scientific Writing
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Develop technical reports, research summaries, and presentations.
  • Assist in communicating research findings to scientific and stakeholder audiences.
Other Academic Activities
  • Participate in seminars, workshops, conferences, and Center-sponsored events.
  • Mentor graduate and undergraduate students, as appropriate.
  • Contribute to collaborative academic and outreach activities of the Lal Carbon Center.
