Job description

National Metal Shapes, a trusted flooring component manufacturer since 1972, is in the midst of a bold growth phase. We are revitalizing our culture and building a high-performance team focused on accountability, execution, and results.

We are looking for driven, capable individuals who want to grow with us and become key contributors within a company with deep roots and significant upside.

The Opportunity

The Director of Finance & Administration is a key leadership position reporting directly to the President and serving as the leader of our Office Department.

This individual is accountable for the functions that support our business behind the scenes, including Finance, Accounting, HR, Procurement, CAD Design, Inventory Management, IT, Office Management

While the scope is broad, this individual's primary functional expertise must be Finance.

You will personally own our budgeting and FP&A processes, financial modeling, and strategic procurement of core metals while leading the employees responsible for the other Office functions.

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who can analyze the business, lead people, improve processes, and own outcomes.

What You Will Do (Other duties, as assigned) Own Budgeting, FP&A & Financial Modeling
  • Lead the annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting processes
  • Maintain and improve the company's financial planning models
  • Analyze actual performance against budget and explain meaningful variances
  • Maintain cash-flow and working-capital forecasts
  • Develop product cost, margin, and pricing models
  • Support custom pricing requests and evaluate profitability
  • Model the financial impact of changes in volume, pricing, material costs, labor, and other key business drivers
  • Translate financial information into actionable insights for the President and leadership team
Manage Strategic Procurement
  • Own procurement of core raw materials, including aluminum, zinc, and brass
  • Maintain and improve the company's procurement model and ordering schedule
  • Translate demand forecasts, usage, inventory, and open POs into purchasing requirements
  • Determine appropriate purchase timing and quantities
  • Manage key supplier relationships and pricing
  • Balance material availability with inventory levels, purchasing economics, and working-capital requirements
Lead the Office Department
  • Lead, manage, and hold accountable employees within the Office Department
  • Oversee Finance, Accounting, HR, Procurement, CAD Design, Inventory Management, IT, Reception, and Administrative Services
  • Establish clear priorities, expectations, and accountability
  • Develop employees and drive process improvement
  • Coordinate across departments to solve problems and improve execution
  • Serve as the single point of accountability to the President for Office Department performanceโ€”regardless of who personally executes the work
Who You Are

First and foremost, you are a finance professional. Your background is rooted in Finance and/or Accounting, with particular strength in FP&A, financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. You enjoy understanding what drives the numbers and using that insight to help make better business decisions.

You are also a hands-on leader who wants broader responsibility. You are comfortable managing people and functions outside your technical expertise, setting expectations, holding others accountable, and stepping in when responsibilities fall through the cracks. You own outcomesโ€”not just tasks.

You are excited by the opportunity to join a well-established business at the beginning of an ambitious new chapterโ€”to take on meaningful responsibility, help build the foundation for our next stage of growth, and grow as a leader alongside the company.

What We Are Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
  • 7+ years of progressive Finance experience, ideally with exposure to Accounting
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in FP&A and financial modeling
  • Strong experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow modeling, and financial analysis
  • Experience analyzing costs, margins, pricing, profitability, and working capital
  • Experience managing and developing employees
  • Ability to lead people and functions outside of your personal area of expertise
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with ERP/accounting systems
  • Strong business judgment, analytical ability, organization, and communication skills
  • Ability to translate financial analysis into clear, actionable recommendations for non-financial leaders

Manufacturing experience is strongly preferred. Experience with cost accounting, inventory management, raw-material procurement, commodity purchasing, or manufacturing ERP systems is highly desirable.

CPA, CMA, or MBA credentials are valued but not required. We care more about demonstrated financial capability, business judgment, leadership, and results.
