Purpose of Position
The Fleet Tactical Manager provides operational and technical leadership for an assigned aircraft fleet and the Maintenance Controllers who support that fleet. The position is accountable for aircraft availability, reliability, maintenance execution, and overall fleet performance through the leadership and development of assigned Maintenance Controllers. The Fleet Tactical Manager drives continuous improvement initiatives focused on increasing aircraft availability, improving dispatch reliability, reducing unscheduled maintenance durations, and addressing chronic or repeat aircraft discrepancies.
The Fleet Tactical Manager coordinates with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), internal support departments, and third-party maintenance providers to ensure maintenance and alterations are accomplished in accordance with all FAA regulations, manufacturer requirements, and company policies. Through technical leadership, fleet oversight, maintenance strategy development, and personnel development, the Fleet Tactical Manager serves as the primary advocate for the operational and maintenance performance of their assigned fleet.
Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Promotes and ensures the highest standards of safety, compliance, risk management, and quality.
  • Provides operational and technical leadership for an assigned aircraft fleet with accountability for aircraft availability, reliability, maintenance execution, and overall fleet performance.
  • Leads, develops, coaches, and mentors assigned Maintenance Controllers to ensure effective maintenance oversight, sound decision-making, professional development, and operational excellence.
  • Collaborates with Maintenance Controllers, maintenance providers, OEMs, and internal stakeholders to develop and execute maintenance strategies that optimize aircraft availability, improve dispatch reliability, and reduce unscheduled maintenance durations.
  • Serves as the primary fleet technical resource for significant maintenance events, recurring discrepancies, operational challenges, and complex troubleshooting efforts, developing corrective actions that improve long-term fleet reliability and performance.
  • Analyzes fleet health, maintenance trends, operational performance data, and recurring defects to identify risks, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the assigned fleet.
  • Partners with Reliability, Quality Assurance, Safety, Maintenance Training, Materials Management, Planning, Flight Operations, Scheduling, and other departments to support fleet objectives and improve operational performance.
  • Ensures maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with FAA regulations, manufacturer requirements, company procedures, and approved maintenance programs.
  • Communicates fleet risks, significant maintenance events, reliability concerns, performance trends, and corrective action plans to leadership and key stakeholders as appropriate.

  • 6-8 years of aircraft maintenance or maintenance control experience preferred, including leadership experience.
  • Minimum of two years leadership experience preferred working in an aircraft maintenance control environment.
  • Knowledge & understanding of turbine powered aircraft systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and root-cause problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of aircraft reliability programs, maintenance planning principles, and operational performance metrics.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications.
  • The ability to read, write, and understand the English language.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
