Job Description Job Description - Project Engineer, Fiber (Construction / Data Center) Summary The Project Engineer is a key member of the project operations team, providing critical support to Project Management and acting as a liaison between field operations and office teams. This role is responsible for coordinating documentation, supporting project execution, and ensuring alignment across all stakeholders. Core responsibilities include managing submittals, RFIs, change orders, test documentation, and maintaining accurate project records and drawings.

The most critical function of this role is proactive communication, ensuring all project stakeholders remain informed and aligned throughout the project lifecycle. Position Details Exempt salaried position (based on experience and skill level) Standard site hours: Monday-Friday, starting at 7:00 AM (up to 10-hour days as needed) Occasional Saturday work as required Fully onsite at project location Travel: Up to 15% Key Responsibilities Project Coordination & Execution Support Project Managers and Senior Project Managers in day-to-day project operations Develop and manage pre-work and post-work submittal packages Draft, track, and process RFIs and change orders Maintain and organize all project documentation and records Ensure drawings, specifications, and working documents are current and accurate Maintain redlines and as-built documentation throughout the project lifecycle Field & Design Coordination Act as liaison between field teams and office stakeholders Verify field conditions against design documents and identify discrepancies Conduct field audits and validate telecom/low-voltage designs Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve design conflicts through the RFI process Coordinate installation methods, labor needs, and sequencing with field leadership Reporting & Communication Provide daily and weekly reporting on project progress Escalate issues, risks, and challenges in a timely manner Ensure all project stakeholders are consistently informed and aligned Coordinate closely with project teams and external partners to maintain progress Financial & Contract Support Review contracts, work orders, and purchase orders to ensure scope alignment Support change management processes by identifying scope impacts and driving resolution Assist in ensuring alignment between project scope, estimates, and execution Quality Assurance & Closeout Support QA/QC processes and ensure adherence to quality standards Review and validate test results (e.g., fiber and cabling tests) Coordinate project acceptance and client signoff Lead preparation of project closeout documentation Vendor & Material Coordination Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to ensure performance and compliance Work with field teams to ensure materials and equipment are available when needed Process Improvement & Tools Support implementation of project tracking tools and dashboards Drive improvements in project delivery processes and workflows Leverage construction technologies to improve visibility and efficiency Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) 5+ years of experience in construction project support or project engineering roles Experience supporting large-scale construction projects, preferably in data center or structured cabling environments Strong understanding of construction documentation, RFIs, submittals, and change orders Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications Preferred Qualifications Experience with structured cabling, ISP/OSP, or low-voltage systems Familiarity with data center construction environments OSHA-30 certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months) BICSI certifications (TECH, OSP, RCDD) are a plus Technical Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio) Experience with construction/project management tools such as Procore, Bluebeam, Textura, or similar Core Competencies Strong communication and coordination skills High attention to detail and organization Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Problem-solving mindset with strong analytical skills Ability to influence and collaborate across cross-functional teams without direct authority Strong leadership presence and ability to support and mentor field teams Additional Information This role does not have direct reports Responsibilities may evolve based on project and business needs
