Job description

An experienced Pharmacy Technician is needed for a temp-to-hire opportunity in a specialty retail pharmacy setting. This role focuses on serving complex patients who often manage multiple daily medications, requiring a technician with strong communication and patience in patient interactions. The position is based in Columbus, OH, with a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and does not include weekend shifts.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in dispensing medications accurately for patients managing chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and multiple sclerosis.
  • Communicate effectively and compassionately with patients who may have low literacy and complex medication regimens.
  • Utilize pharmacy software (Pioneer Rx) to manage prescriptions and maintain accurate patient records.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
  • Previous retail pharmacy technician experience is required; specialty retail pharmacy experience is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working with patients who have chronic illnesses is essential; resumes should clearly highlight this background.
  • Strong knowledge of the top 200-400 drugs commonly dispensed in retail pharmacy.
  • Excellent patient communication skills with the ability to explain complex medication regimens compassionately and clearly.
  • Experience or willingness to learn Pioneer Rx pharmacy software.
